My phone was full so I cleared out all my pics and stuff. I literally have nothing else on the phone (checked how much space each folder used) yet there is 9.36GB being used. I know the phone will use some space for the os but thats alot of unaccounted space being used.

Cache might be taking up a lot. Try using CCleaner app

App reporting is inaccurate. Some games only report the initial download, 60mb or so with a further 700mb in additional files which aren't reported.

iPhone? My old 5s would back up all my data, and it took up like 3GB or so.

If its an iphone, your messages go back allllll the way to the first message you ever sent to that specific person.

So if for example, you send a hundred texts/recieve a hundred texts a day from your girlfriend, on top of random videos/pictures she sends...thats going to be a SHIT ton of stuff backlogged into your convo with her. I literall tried loading my messages all the way back to the beginning with one of my best friends a couple years ago, i had had the phone for almost 3 years--it took me almost 30 minutes to load messages back just one year...

Now imagine that for every person you've ever talked to that has an open conversation on your phone.
