Worked in IT. It started okay but then I just got sick of dealing with customers and it was so boring sitting down all day. Switched to blue collar now and have never looked back.

Yes.

I was the director of security for a major corporation for about a decade. Started as a officer for Motorola at 18, became supervisor about 2 months later. Half a year later I was asked to save a contract at the corporation as the site manager. Company hired me as director about a year later.

I switched to the corporate side of a health organization about a year or so ago. No degree.

I would be lying if I said I wasn't extremely lucky though. My advice, strengthen whatever aspects of your current field that's applicable to the field your interested in. From there, network. Network, network, and network some more.

Edit: If we're just talking about random assortments of jobs then ya just diversify and see what you like. I've done anything from full commission sales to working at subway lol.

I dropped out of law school after the first year and ended up working in childcare. I'm seriously considering getting my teaching license next year.

I was thinking along the lines of something like, someone specialized in one thing or got a degree in that and worked in that industry/field and then made a switch to something else. I think your switch to the corporate side is similar to what I am curious about

Trained as a research engineer, left the country to come back home to a land of no opportunity, became a Radio broadcasting engineer with a bunch of other jobs on the side, then moved on to cooking for a year working my way up from a dishwasher to line cook, and am now in cube farm while going out on the field to survey and inspect school buildings for structural damage with architects. Story of my life within the past 4 years.

Trying to get back into the tech world now.

If you have any questions or wanna talk about it feel free to tag me here or send me a PM. I had a few friends make similar switches in different fields too.

I want a career change (currently work in IT) but I have no idea what I'd get into. I'm also not too optimistic about actually being able to land a job considering I only have an Associates. What places are willing to hire someone for a decent paying job that doesn't have schooling or experience in that field?

I've always been kind of interested in sales but I don't know how well I'd do. I feel like that would've been something I should've done many years ago before I was married or ready to have a child. It seems like a risky field to be in if you don't perform well.

Any tips on networking? All I do really is look on sites like Indeed and sometimes company websites (mostly hospitals right now). I do have a Linked In profile but most of the people on there that reach out or view my profile are recruiters. I'm not about to take a temp or risk a contract to hire job. =/

-I started doing carpentry right out of hs
-Then I went into printing
-I unloaded trucks for UPS-this was pt so it overlapped with other things
-Later I was a program director for a substance abuse center
-I was an admin asst at several companies after that...mostly small law offices
-Now I manage a data/graphics processing department for a school photography studio

My degree is in lol Communications. A degree made it easy for me to move up the ranks quickly. I think the longest I spent at an entry level position was a year.

I got my foot in the door at half of these places through Craigslist ads. Then I just showed an interest in moving up. It helped that UPS overlapped with a lot of these. I was able to make ends meet with that as a pt job so I had the flexibility to leave things that I didn't like or start at the bottom.
