Pre-show: Reed d. Fuji (58)

Tonight, it's all tag matches! PARKAMANIA are out ahead of their opening match to tell us that the red, white, and blue don't run, no matter what monsters they face! Uh, the black and white don't run either, brother. (69) Parkamania are indeed able to take down the team of Bundy and Sika. (61) Backstage, it looks like Baba and Tsuruta are planning to run in, but Atlas cuts them off. Hogan and Parka aren't the only ones to have had enough of those two! (43)

Koloff and Sheik are happy with their upcoming title shot. Faces of Fear don't think they have what it takes. (54) Tenryu and Reigns are paired up tonight against Future Perfect. The announcers mention that all four of these men are considered front runners to be the next IC Champ, and Tenryu picks up the win. (61) Jim Powers wants to visit the OK Ranch, and the Funks put him to work. Powers has a hard time at first, but they eventually respect his hard work. (69)

Style and Substance are still whining about everything. They're cut off by Steamboat and Michaels. They're both on cold snaps lately, but the difference is Steamboat and Michaels get right back up and keep pushing! (52) The two teams have a match, with Steamboat securing the win. (69)

Death and Taxes approach Ventura and Lawler backstage. DnT have done their job, and would rather not be involved further with the NWA title picture at this time. Ventura doesn't want them bailing on the gauntlet, but a briefcase full of dough convinces him he can find replacements probably. (87) Bruno and the Harts are watching this backstage, and find this a rather cowardly action. (45) Too bad, because DnT are already out to the ring to take on Muraco and Blackwell. The faces' grand quest to right the injustice of the Snuka/Jones heel turn takes another turn when Snuka and Jones themselves run in, causing a DQ. (82)

Flair and Rheingans are teaming up tonight. It doesn't matter if it's 2 on 2, 5 on 5, or 1 on 1...Flair and the WWF have Hansen's number now! (82) It sure seems that way in the main event. Hansen has brought in Tully as a partner, but they are ultimately unable to defeat the slightly more cohesive Flair/Rheingans team. (83)

Pre-show: Blackwell d. Afa (63)

General Manager James J. Dillon starts off the show by calling out Flair. Dillon appreciates the work Flair did for WWF in defeating All Japan, and there's no doubt he's earned a shot at the champ. However, that was then, and Wrestlemania is now! Dillon's got a little something planned for tonight's contract signing. Flair tells him to bring it on. (89) Muraco vs. Tenryu is our opening bout, but it's a bit underwhelming considering the talent involved. Muraco goes over, but Tenryu is continuing to look like a solid midcard threat. (69) Jim Powers is trying to promo backstage, when he's interrupted by Sheik and Koloff. We have a rookie here! An American to boot! Sheik and Koloff show Powers what happens to rookies and Americans around here. (53)

Another All Japan alumni is on jobber duty tonight- Bruno puts away AKIO without much trouble in non-title action. (61) Faces of Fear are ready for Sheik and Koloff. The challengers are just some puffed up bullies. Faces of Fear ain't exactly rookies, or Americans, so maybe it's time for Sheik and Koloff to get a bit of their own medicine. (65) The Funks face Style and Substance in a solid match. You can feel the frustration growing on the heel team, as they fight a bit more recklessly than usual. Reckless is where the Funks live, though, and soon Heenan feels the need to get involved and save his boys. A missed haymaker hits Martel, and the Funks are able to wrap up the win. (72)

Tully bumps into Owen backstage coming around a corner. Tully sizes Owen up, but then Bret appears for backup. Tully doesn't feel like fighting both of them, and leaves with a scoff. (59) PARKAMANIA is in the house, taking on Fuji and Edwards. Not that the heels really had a chance in the first place, but the man from the future refuses to get anywhere near Hogan, leaving poor Fuji to get picked apart. (60) Baba and Tsuruta come out while Elizabeth dances, and say that Parkamania should try a REAL tag team for size! (61)

Rheingans and Atlas both have their sights set on the IC Title Battle Royal! (50) Ventura and Lawler go over Future Perfect after some high quality wrasslin'. (68) Ventura and Lawler are looking to prove a point, though, and toss the fatigued Hennig out of the ring. They gang up on Windham to give him a taste of what Bruno's getting when he takes on Team Ventura by himself! Windham fights for his life until Bruno comes out to clear the ring. (73)

The main event is Steamboat and Michaels against Death and Taxes. The announcers discuss the Muraco+Blackwell/DnT/Snuka+Jones situation as the heels eventually get a hard-earned win. (78) Dillon brings out Flair and Hansen to sign a contract...then announces that they'll face off IN A CAGE this Sunday! The contract signing ends with a stareoff instead of violence, for the first time in this or any reality. (92)

Overall: 81 SUCCESS Michaels overused

Muraco and Blackwell are out to start the show. They still object to the TREACHERY of Snuka and Jones, and want to settle the score at WRESTLEMANIA! That'll suit Snuka and Jones just fine, as they are tired of getting flak. (67) Tully and Michaels have a nice little match- Tully goes over, of course. (76) Jim Powers says that the IC Royale is gonna feel the POWER. (45) Remember Hiro Saito? And Jules Strongbow? They have a match tonight. Jules loses and will likely never be seen again. (34) Butch Reed says he's not only the pick of ladies everywhere, he's the Natural pick for the next IC Champion! (53)

Steamboat beats Afa Reigns. (58) The Harts will have each other's back in the IC Royale, but Atlas thinks it's gonna take a real American hero to win the gold! Rheingans agrees. (42) Future Perfect face Style and Substance for a while. Times have changed, and the heels get a big win. (69) After the match, Ventura and Lawler come out! There are two openings on Team Beat The Stuffing Out of Bruno Sammartino, and it turns out that SnS would love to take them. It's a heel party in the ring! (75)

PARKAMANIA trade taunts with Baba and Tsuruta. Y'know, I just realized I could've been calling them "Giant and Jumbo" this whole time. (58) Random NWA Title match! Bruno retains over Tenryu, but not that easily. (69) The Funks noticed that they don't have dance partners for Wrestlemania, so they call out Death and Taxes. DiBiase seems reluctant to accept the challenge, but the Funks call them cowards for bribing their way out of everything these days. Williams gets his dander up and accepts! (71)

Our main event is some double preview 6-man tag action, as Flair and the FoF take on Hansen, Sheik, and Koloff. Sheik threatens to desecrate a US flag, but whacks Flair with it instead, leading to a heel win. (84) The heels aren't done, and smack their respective opponents around a bit! Go home and tell your cable provider you want to see Wrestlemania! (62)

WWF PRESENTS WRESTLEMANIA III

Pre-show: AKIO d. Garea (47)

Death and Taxes are in the ring. DiBiase doesn't need a Wrestlemania paycheck, and attempts to smooth over this little misunderstanding with his good friend George. His good friend Abe? Franklin? The Funks knock the cash out of his hand in an explosion of green, and begin a beatdown. (61) A very solid brawl follows. Despite DiBiase's reluctance to take the match, the heels give a solid account of themselves once we're underway. Nevertheless, the Funks are a bit scrappier tonight. (87) Backstage, we get Luis Edwards' hot take FROM THE FUTURE on tonight. The timeline is a bit muddled, but he's pretty sure Hogan's gonna slam a Giant tonight, and you should watch out for Ricky Steamboat. (31)

Sheik and Koloff are excited to be your next tag team champions, you stupid Americans. (54) But in fact the FACES OF FEAR are able to beat them down after a worthy fracas. (69) Bruno mumbles something about a surprise and being ready for Ventura. (58) But first, the IC Title Battle Royal! Final four is Rheingans, Steamboat, Michaels, and Bundy. Bundy tosses Steamboat and Rheingans tosses Michaels. Bundy is able to muscle Rheingans over the top...but Steamboat skinned the cat! Steamboat is a house on fire, and eventually knocks Bundy out with a superkick to win the IC title! (67) He celebrates in the ring and tells all the kids out there to train hard. (80)

Muraco and Blackwell are out for RIGHTEOUS VENGEANCE, and get it at the expense of Snuka and an oddly uninvolved (read: hiding an injury) Jones. (64) Parkamania and Baba/Tsuruta talk about (north) AMERICA. (57) Faces go over after Hogan successfully bodyslams Baba the Giant! (68)

Ventura is here to tell us that Lawler has a THING tonight and can't be here. He's sick. yes. But no worries, the role of Jerry Lawler will be played tonight by Genichiro Tenryu! (73) The gauntlet commences. Tenryu gives Bruno a bit of trouble, but Style and Substance go down in rather quick succession. (65) Tully abandons any pretense of a match and just beats the snot out of Bruno until staff pull him off. That's a DQ, but Bruno is in very bad shape after going through three matches and a beatdown. (81) Ventura is ready to pick the bones, but the champ ain't going down without a fight! ...But the hope spot can only last so long. Reality sets in, and we have a new NWA Champ. (80)

Hansen gives a few thoughts on the main event. There's no All Japan to be kept out by the cage. No, it's Flair who's trapped INSIDE with Hansen! (96) And then Flair and Hansen take each other to the limit. No interference, no (major) cheating, just two guys, some steel, and some blood. LARIATO~ whiffs, Flair sweeps the leg....Figure Four! Reversal! Re-reversal! .......Hansen taps! Flair wins! (99) Hansen and All Japan are truly defeated, once and for all! WOOOOOO! (100)

Overall: 99 SUCCESS

James J. Dillon is out to talk about the state of the WWF, but before he can really get going, out marches a heavily battered and heavily pissed Bruno Sammartino. The gauntlet match was thoroughly ridiculous and Dillon needs to make it right RIGHT NOW. Funny Bruno should mention that, because Dillon agrees that WWF should go....BACK TO BASICS! Next PPV will be all straightforward, good ol' 1v1 matches, with rules strictly enforced with heavier fines than usual. Maybe Bruno can get a rematch if he can beat Lawler next week~ (62)

Parkamania is still on a roll, going over the odd pairing of Tenryu and Razor (70) before having a dance party with Elizabeth. (50) Afa Reigns tries to recoup some momentum with a win over Mike Rotundo. (57) Future Perfect shill how much better WWF is than the other guys. (46) Faces of Fear put themselves over for retaining at Wrestlemania...but Snuka and Jones show up wanting a slice of tag title action! (65)

Lawler puts away Michaels in a solid not-quite-squash. (71) Ventura joins him in the ring, and Lawler congratulates him on the title win while apologizing for his hand-waved absence. (90) Jim Powers takes down Luis Edwards because The Man From The Future doesn't have him scouted. (47) Buddy Rogers gets an interview with Hansen, who isn't done with Flair or the WWF yet! (64)

In a bit of WM backlash, new IC Champ Steamboat teams with the Funks against runnerup Bundy, and Death and Taxes. Steamboat is finally getting a real push, and puts away Bundy to legitimize his battle royal win. (77) Muraco is backstage. The Rac is on a roll, and he's not stoppin' yet, if you smelllllll what the Rac is cookin'! (60) Our main event sees Tully go over Blackwell in a good ol' brawl. (81) Flair comes out with the WWF Title to thank the fans for their support and celebrate with them. We're halfway through the first WOOO when Sheik and Koloff come out to the ring! Wordlessly, they flank the champ....and then put the boots to him! Flair's still a bit busted up, and can't handle the numbers game, so the show ends with him down in the ring under the feet of the heels. (62)

Pre-show: Rheingans/Reed d. Baba/Tsuruta (70)

Steamboat opens the show, talking about the IC Title and how much it means to him. He's interrupted by Death and Taxes, who are salty about losing to Steamboat in 6-man action on Raw. DiBiase has taken out bigger champs than Steamboat...it looks like it might be beatdown time, but Michaels comes out to watch his mentor's back, and the staredown breaks up. (60) PARKAMANIA take out Tenryu and Fuji. (67, heels excellent chem) Faces of Fear are approached backstage by Captain Lou, with Sika in tow. Albano congratulates them on the title win, but wouldn't they rather get the Samoans back together? No, no they wouldn't. (50)

Style and Substance take us back to the good ol' days of this diary by beating Hart Attack. (54) Tully Blanchard issues an OPEN CHALLENGE because he is tired of fighting other people's battles. (92) Some ham and egger named Al Snow comes out and does the job. (70) Tony Atlas puts over Back To Basics as a neat idea. The laugh seems out of place. (40) Powers is visibly frustrated with his role. Muraco shows up and asks him his na-IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT HIS NAME IS. Muraco rolls out some more catchphrases and wanders off, leaving Powers to sulk. (60)

Future Perfect still exist! They beat Afa and Edwards. Guess Edwards' future....wasn't perfect. (60) Ventura finally puts an end to the jobber parade by taunting Bruno. If Bruno has a problem with how Ventura took his precious belt, he should have gotten better friends! Or any friends. Or half a brain. Or some money. Or a time machine to go back to when he was relevant. Bruno eventually has all he can take of this, and comes barreling out from the back, but Ventura gives him the slip. (76) His buddy Lawler is in action next, and gets a big win over Jerry Blackwell! (77) Flair and the Funks are teaming up in the main event, and they describe in vivid detail just what they're going to do to Hansen, Sheik, Koloff, and anybody else that is down on the ol' US of A! (92) They proceed to do most of those things, despite Hansen's best efforts to carry the heels. Flair gets the W. (84)

In a promo that I forgot to move to an appropriate spot on the card, Snuka and Jones come out to announce that they shouldn't have had to fight Muraco and Blackwell. Jones has been nursing a joint separation this whole time, but he fought through it for YOU FANS and those jerks took advantage! Jones is now going to have to rehab his [injured body part] :( (70)

Overall: 84 SUCCESS
