WASHINGTON In the $600 billion annual Defense Department budgets, the $22 million spent on the Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program was almost impossible to find.

Which was how the Pentagon wanted it.

For years, the program investigated reports of unidentified flying objects, according to Defense Department officials, interviews with program participants and records obtained by The New York Times. It was run by a military intelligence official, Luis Elizondo, on the fifth floor of the Pentagons C Ring, deep within the buildings maze.

The Defense Department has never before acknowledged the existence of the program, which it says it shut down in 2012. But its backers say that, while the Pentagon ended funding for the effort at that time, the program remains in existence. For the past five years, they say, officials with the program have continued to investigate episodes brought to them by service members, while also carrying out their other Defense Department duties.

The shadowy program parts of it remain classified began in 2007, and initially it was largely funded at the request of Harry Reid, the Nevada Democrat who was the Senate majority leader at the time and who has long had an interest in space phenomena. Most of the money went to an aerospace research company run by a billionaire entrepreneur and longtime friend of Mr. Reids, Robert Bigelow, who is currently working with NASA to produce expandable craft for humans to use in space.

Just in the general sense. Not too long ago if you mentioned the possibility of alien life you were a kook or a charlatan, people were afraid to even talk about it for fear of being a laughingstock especially Scientists. Now it's discussed openly and without real fear. It's almost accepted that we are not alone in the Universe and pretty silly to suggest we are.

If you listen to knowledgeable people talk about the issue it feels like when, not if anymore. So basically yeah, that's exactly what's happening.

I'm not a black and white guy, so while I am going a bit off topic, I still believe it's possible that they exist and haven't visited us, don't, or perhaps they are at the same level of evolution as we are. I basically am trying to support the theory of ETs more than I am of UFOs (which obviously also clearly exist - the question is whether or not some of them are flying saucers).

Oh yeah, I at least definitely think life does exist in some form elsewhere. As for what that form is, who knows? It could be more advanced, or could be far less advanced or just at a similar stage (which I think is much more likely)

All these "strange things" - UFOs, ghosts etc, would surely have vastly more evidence for them in the age of the mobile phone but we are still stuck with incredibly shitty evidence for it all for some reason. Sure, strange things might exist, but it doesn't mean they are something as bizarre as some might want and is just something people might not recognise (experimental technology) or their brain playing tricks on them/trick of the light etc.

This weekend, the New York Times reported on the Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program, which apparently found unidentifiable alien alloys. While we have no clue what the hell those alloys are, here are some video game alloys that might as well be real now.

The information the New York Times outlines a strange alloy that caused people to have physical reactions and that required examinations for any effects on the mind. Seriously, listen to this:

Under [Bigelow Aerospace director and project cooperator] Mr. Bigelows direction, the company modified buildings in Las Vegas for the storage of metal alloys and other materials that Mr. Elizondo and program contractors said had been recovered from unidentified aerial phenomena. Researchers also studied people who said they had experienced physical effects from encounters with the objects and examined them for any physiological changes.

I re-read the NYT article, the link you gave, and even a link within that link with some weirdo author spazzing out about alloys with a video (which I also watched) of the dude saying "we don't know what it is"

Literally the most concrete thing in all of those was: people (vague) saying they had experienced physical effects (vague) and that researchers were looking into it (zero links to any reports about that study)

So we're still on this super fucking vague crap with nothing solid. If the government can't release the info for some reason, well okay. I'm not gonna suddenly believe them without any actual evidence because they claim it's secret.

Dude, we had the US military state that a flying dick was recovered in the late 40s. And then you have the original MJ12 documents that skeptics originally claimed had wrong classifications UNTIL they uncovered recently declassified documents that had the exact same classifications. These were obscure classifications used during the late 40s -- a fact that wasn't know until the late 80s after the MJ-12 documents were made public. Coincidence?
