I'm currently watching The Crown, The Handmaid's Tale and soon I'll retry Fate/Zero. I'm rewatching Game of Thrones and The Expanse at a pace of about 2-3 episodes each per week with my roommates who I'm hanging in NC with for the time being. On 4x09 and 2x01 respectively. I'm gonna start Westworld with one of them soon, too. First time for the both of us.

I finished both seasons of The Man in the High Castle. Bring on Season 3!

Okay, finished the December 20th section of Disappearance. Man, I love this movie so much. Kyon's decision is another one of my very favorite things, and it's KyoAni at its presentation and art direction best. Also, I love how they swerve you into thinking that's the climax and everything's done, but then NOPE.

In Yu Yu Hakusho, we get some more backstory on Kurama this time, and he recruits some of the fan favorites from the Dark Tournament to help him. Apparently, the strategy is to have Yusuke, Kurama, and Hiei rise to second in command by the time Raizen dies. We're two for three so far, and I imagine we'll get to see Yusuke's rise to the top next.

In F/SN UBW, Lancer defeats Archer, but it seems all he wanted to do was buy time to let Caster get distracted by Rin and Shirou. Huh, I wouldn't have expected Caster to take the blow for her Master. Rin forms a new pact with Saber in order to save herself and Shirou, but Archer can apparently sustain his form for two days without a Master, so he challenges Shirou to a duel to the death with Rin as his hostage. Archer also does a title drop and summons everyone to the Keyblade Graveyard, where he reveals that he can copy any weapon he's seen. So I guess the implication here is that Archer is Future Shirou, who's been disillusioned by having his ideals repeatedly dashed and betrayed? Or at the very least, he's someone who used to be exactly like Shirou, and that's why he hates him. Or maybe he wants to kill Shirou so he never becomes Archer? Who knows. I guess we'll find out soon!

Five episodes down in Fate/Zero. I started it last night and blasted through three episodes (four if we want to go by runtime because the first was totally two episodes in length) and then blasted through another pair before work today.

Good show so far. I am having the damnedest time remembering the names of the various Masters but Leon is a gem and I threw him archetypal descriptions so he could toss back the real names. The following is edited for content in order to make me look a touch wittier at his expense:

We're going to play a game with this show. Whoever guesses my current favorite character accurately first will win a fabulous prize. The prize is respect.

The art is excellent. The action is amazing. The music is pretty good. A lot of the dialogue is, uh, you know, it's dubbed anime 101, but that just enriches the whole experience for me. The folks I'm splitting an apartment with right now, they've both seen the series already, and they're both kinda like, you know, "so the dialogue is not what you come here for", but I mean, look. I watch this and then The Crown and Handmaid's Tale. I am running the gamut here. I am running the gamut. Right? I love the refined elegance, I love the dryness or the acerbic wit, over yonder. But here? With Fate/Zero? I love the yelled cliche lines delivered with such compassion, conviction, furor. Voice acting is the best, innit?

I'll also make some BOLD PREDIX. I think Kirei or Kiritsugu are going to win. I think this may have upset Leon and I base this on him telling me near the end of his run that it was looking like whoever it was that he had hoped would win wasn't likely to win. I didn't get an answer on any of this and he hadn't actually completed the series yet at that point so no spoilers, ya? But we'll see. Ya, were see.

Uh can I recommend switching to the sub now or is it too late?

I wouldn't quite go as far as to say "the dialogue is all you come here for", but I definitely consider it the highlight.

Not that I have any specific problems with the dub having not seen it myself, but the passage in the quote is raising some pretty loud alarms in my head.

Don't be alarmed, pyre. I wouldn't be surprised if the dialogue is objectively superior in the sub, but I probably wouldn't be enjoying this as much if it weren't for the over-the-top dialogue I am presently experiencing. Maybe someday I'll watch the sub on a rewatch.

As for the question of Masters/Servants, I meant everybody, fwiw
