I'm not sure what a Z split

I just mean there's this distinction between Original and Z that doesn't inherently exist. Dragon Ball is a 42 volume manga that spans Goku meeting Bulma to the end of the Boo arc.

"Z" was just a marketing thing to start the episode count over again in the anime adaptation, and kind of arbitrary. But it got popular here through Z so even our English version manga release splits it up.

Which is kinda unfortunate because I remember feeling bummed when I immediately knew I should be more familiar with these characters than I was. Like, friends watched the show. Even at my house sometimes. But I never did. And I could definitely tell I was supposed to know these people better.

The West (America, at least) got in with Z and all but I'm the kind of guy who needs the whole scoop. It didn't stop me from coming to love Kai anyway 3 years ago, but the first several episodes irritated me.

I finished reading the latest Haruhi-chan manga, and thankfully, it looks like they're not done with the series yet! For some reason, the word "Final" was written under the volume number, but the end of the manga said that there will be a next volume, so who knows!

I really like the Haruhi-chan series. Sometimes it encapsulates what's great about the series better than the actual main series does.

Me too. Luckily I didn't actually get into DBZ when it was popular. My friend did it the normal way but when he introduced it to me we started with the original.

Wasn't Sailor Moon pre-Toonami? I remember watching it before school every day back in grade 3/4...

It was pre-Toonami, but it was also part of Toonami once that became a thing. It aired on USA in the mornings before it switched over to Cartoon Network and played in the after school block at like 4 or 4:30

Anyway, I've finished the prologue in Professor Layton and the Unwound Future. Somehow, we've seemingly traveled through time! Can't wait for the explanation of how the clock produced a hallucinogenic drug that only made them believe they went to the future...!

In Yu Yu Hakusho, Hiei and Mukuro have a pretty great fight full of personal significance for them both. Their plotline has definitely been the highlight of Season 4 so far, although I'll be disappointed if this show ends and Yukina still doesn't know Hiei is her brother. In the middle of his fight with Yomi, Yusuke suddenly needs a reason to fight other than just for the sheer joy of fighting, but he eventually figures it out after a few minutes. Only two more episodes of the main show remain, although there are apparently some OVAs, too, but we're getting close to the end!

My CTHC party is apparently Crono/Lucca/Ayla

I don't know if I have ever used Lucca when I haven't had to, so I guess this playthrough will actually be in the spirit of the challenge!

Chrono Trigger feels like a weird game to choose for something like this considering there are long stretches of the game where you can't use the party they give you, especially if you draw Magus or a party without Crono in it.

FFX would be an interesting game for something like this. I can imagine certain parts of the game would be pretty hard if you couldn't switch party members.

Lucca's great yo. I generally found her to be the most powerful unit in battle. Plus she's the best female PC.

Chrono Cross would be a weird one because there are certain permutations that would be impossible because you can't recruit every single party member in a single playthrough, right?
