Alright, I've watched both the 48-minute opening episodes now. I've got to say, I'm feeling a metric ton warmer about Rin, Shiro and Sakura than I was about anybody human in Fate/Zero.

Waver definitely develops pretty well. It's just a shame about everybody else who is supposed to come across as sympathetic...

Well, Kariya has an unfortunate misstep toward the end, but I think they accomplished their purpose with him. He's one of the most maligned characters I've ever encountered.

Eh, I think they told his story reasonably well. At the very least, they had me rooting for him to win for most of the show despite my immense love of Rider.

Fate/Apocrypha isn't done yet although the last episode airs in Japan at the end of this week. I think Netflix only has the first half of the series available at the moment and I'm not sure when Netflix will actually put up the rest of the series. The put up the first half around a month after the first half finished airing in Japan.

In Yu Yu Hakusho, the Demon World Tournament continues, with most of Yusuke's Dark Tournament buddies getting eliminated, but everyone seems okay with it because they're continuing to grow and stuff and they're better people now because of meeting Yusuke or something. Kurama has a tough fight with the surgeon dude with the round sword, and he decides to say goodbye to his Yoko side in the process. It was cool seeing his reminisces of his friends and family, as well as their concern for him throughout the fight. Kurama's so good.

Kurama > Kuwabara > Hiei > Yusuke is my hot predix for the four guys. Not that I hear you say much about Kuwabara, but you said something about how being at the bottom.

I think I go Yusuke > Kurama > Hiei > Kuwabara now. And Kuwabara only dropped because the others went up in my last reread.

Just going to mention that Saber consistently calls Shirou "Shiro" because it's near impossible for native english speakers to hear the difference between the two, and I remember this being a thing in the VN but I don't think it's ever mentioned in the anime.

Okay, I watched a couple episodes of the original Fate/Stay Night anime. Not really seeing the problem with it so far. The animation quality is a lot lower than UBW, but it's not like it's bad. The plot seems mostly the same so far, so I guess it'll be a while longer before we hit a divergence point. It's actually kind of interesting watching this with the perspective of having seen UBW already and picking up on FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS GOOD AND RIGHT DO NOT READ THIS JEFF ZERO the hints that Archer is future Shiro like the fact that Shiro is in the Archery Club at school and little details like that . The end of the second episode where Shiro summons Saber has him comment on what surprised him the most about this whole situation was her stunning beauty, so I guess they're shipping Shiro/Saber this time around, maybe...? Who knows, they shipteased Shiro/Saber a little bit in UBW, too. SERIOUSLY JEFF ZERO DON'T READ THAT

Also, we've got several VA changes. Shiro is now Sam Riegel, which is a pretty big upgrade. Some of them are amusing because they play different characters in F/Z or UBW. Rider's F/Z VA is now Kirei. Kuzuki's UBW VA is now Issei. Kayneth's F/Z VA is now Shinji (which is a pretty fitting switch). Perhaps the funniest change is the fact that Kiritsugu's VA here is Kirk Thornton, whom I'm pretty sure played Kiritsugu's dad in the F/Z flashback episodes.

Some of the VAs are the same, like Lancer, Ilya, Rin (who's now just Rin with a short I instead of REEN although Shinji is SHEENJI now for some reason), and the crazy teacher lady. I'm gonna miss Kari Wahlgren as Saber a whole lot though. She's so good.

It is not (or at least it isn't in UBW and it's probably something that wouldn't get mentioned in the dub regardless), although that goes along with what I said earlier about the fact that most people wouldn't be able to tell the difference between "Shiro" and "Shirou" so either spelling in English is considered acceptable.

Oh speaking of which I actually just watched The Force Awakens for the first time. It was pretty solid. Not sure where I'd rank it but probably somewhere in the middle. Don't really have a lot to say since honestly a lot of it felt like setup to me, but if friends' comments about The Last Jedi are to be believed I'll probably have things to say about that movie when I watch it in a few days.

Also Revenge of the Sith is actually my #2 favorite (from 1-7 at least) for what that's worth. Or perhaps #3 depending on where The Force Awakens settles in.
