The first half of the game is ok, but the 2nd half is literally just a dungeon crawl for 8 dungeons straight and the story just takes a huge halt for like 5 hours.

Plus the overworld is boring and lifeless >_> There's only 1 town with barely anyone to talk to and everywhere else is just enemies roaming all over the place.

Link's Awakening and most of the 3d zeldas are much better >_>

I played it for the first time back in September. I played the GBA version, so that might have affected my opinion, but I thought it was decent.

It started out great, some of the most fun I've had in a Zelda game, but yeah, halfway through it takes a turn for the worse, where the only break from dungeons you get is finding the dungeons, which starts to require you to have completed certain side quests, which completely goes against the idea of a "side" quest.

Ocarina of Time is boring as fuck, the controls are not very good, the dungeons were not fun to play through... I don't get the hubub about it. I literally didn't care at all about ANY of the characters.

I still can't get into the mindset of people who think any Zelda game's story is good enough to put another Zelda game's story down by comparison. I can only assume it's the result of OoT indoctrination at a young and impressionable age.

I'd say it's better than good, it's really good and an amazing jump up from the Zelda games previous. I do think that it's still not the most amazing thing in the world and the N64 games are way more interesting though.

first zelda i played was twilight princess, went to play some old snes games that i see people mention on emulations and Links Past was a fun one

ALBW made me realize that LttP was a really primitive game. Great for its time, but playing it again is like going back to SNES FF4 when you could play the DS version instead.

Who cares about plot? The game has amazing dungeon design and music, two things that matter most in Zelda games and easily has those other games beat in. Links awakening was great but absolutely not better

I respectfully disagree. I'll only refute one as to not drag this on:

Wind waker is top 3 at worst. The hd version clears a lot of its hurdles and it show cases one of the best Links in recent history.

Other games include Final Fantasy VII, Majoras Mask and Chrono Trigger.

I was never a fan of how much combat focus the game has when the way sword swings work is one of the most awkward combat methods in any game I've ever played

OOT has a good story. The best parts of it are where it uses the Zelda iconography, but I like the Sheik subplot and the sage stuff. It's all pretty simple, but holy god does it climax.

Ok I didn't hate chrono trigger at all, but by the time I tried it I just felt like it was way too dated to really enjoy as a first time player. It was slow and boring and I'd already played a bunch of RPGs that clearly took the concept and developed on it. Those sorts of games require a certain amount of nostalgia goggles to get over the dated game mechanics.

It's like when people say Superman is a boring superhero because he's "generic". Well no shit he seems generic when he was the original superhero and every incarnation of a superhero thereafter is based on his template. So I recognise that Chrono Trigger has a place in history but I just wasn't really able to get into it.

Also Dark World theme and Lost Woods music are up there with astrological observatory from MM for best Zelda music.

I don't think there's anything in the OP I disagree with, tbh. Definitely agree on Link's Awakening being the superior 2D Zelda.
