Girlfriend really sick

Got about an hour and a half wait time before she even gets in

So I'm torn on what my game of the year is for this year. Of course I have plenty more to play (Hellblade is the one I'm most curious about) but so far my favorites are Horizon Zero Dawn and What Remains of Edith Finch

Problem is, these games are about as different as can be. HZD is a 30-hour epic adventure, while Edith Finch can be platinumed in 5 hours (main story probably 3 hours) and is super personal.

HZD was probably the one I had more fun with. The gameplay was incredible and smooth and thrilling. Easily one of the best games of it's type.

Edith Finch is the one that stuck with me the most. Every single member of the family left an impression on me. It's a feeling I can't shake; the way it presents narrative just blew me away.

And I'm always like this. I'm a sucker for a powerful indie. Like looking at my game of the years for the past few years

2016: Inside
2015: Life is Strange
2014: Octodad: Dadliest Catch
2013: Bioshock Infinite
2012: Journey

Sure, Life is Strange isn't an indie, but it damn well plays like one. And Bioshock isn't either, but that's also a top 5 game for me.

But that's only been a mostly recent thing. Years before that

2011: Portal 2
2010: God of War III
2009: Assassin's Creed II
2008: Super Smash Bros Brawl
2007: Bioshock
2006: Kingdom Hearts II

So is it mostly because there's more Indies now? Better Indies? Has my taste in games just changed? Maybe I'm just becoming pretentious?

But in years with Indies as my favorite I always have a big name runner up.

2013: The Last of Us
2012: PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale (don't judge)

Initial guess for her is a chest cold or something, but she coughed up a bit of blood so we're not taking chances

Is she hacking anything up? First thing I'd check for is pneumonia.

Well not so much like regular cold, more like acute bronchitis. Really sore throat and trouble sleeping. She says she thinks the blood is from her throat feeling so raw

Yeah, Lewis at the cannery and Molly as the animals were probably the best imo. I also got super excited by the Edith's younger brother being the king from The Unfinished Swan

it's not like your indies are super obscure or critically unpopular with the possible exception of octodad. those games are totally reasonable to call game of the year.

So it's not super severe but it is in both lungs. She's being put on an antibiotic (she's allergic to the one they suggest so she's going on a different one)

Thanks everyone. She's working on trying to get the prescription now (the one provided by CVS was too expensive, so trying to get it through the doctor's office directly).

The doctor originally recommended an inhaler as well but that's not looking feasible, so here's hoping the antibiotic will do the trick.

The doctor said that by Tuesday she should be okay to work again.

I had to give my son treatments for like 6 weeks when he was 2 because of pneumonia. sucks.

I had pneumonia three times as a kid, my first time hospitalizing me for Christmas when I was six years old. My family was super kind to me in my bed and I'll always appreciate that.

Also, I got Tornado Rex so that helped:

Christmas update:
Doctor initially said she should be able to be back to work by Tuesday

That's not gonna happen. As of like 5:30 tonight, she's getting sick and coughing blood again.

Not entirely sure where to go from here.
