Combat in that game is terrible. Multiplayer doesn't make up for it

Terranigma was really good but is grotesquely overrated by the few people who imported the EU version or played it elsewhere. The rarity is what makes it so loledgy to talk about.

Slow your roll fella.

Music
Story/dialogue
No random encounters

And too much more to name... there's not even a "aww fuck this shit sucks why did they include it?" Dungeon.

I'm not sure how anyone could say it isn't a masterpiece.

well thats because random encounters are usually a jrpg thing which terranigma is not
its an action adventure game with rpg elements rather than a real rpg

What? The SNES was region locked lol

Yes, by physical tabs on the inside of the cartridge slot, that you could break off to allow out-of-region games. Not exactly the strongest region-locking.

I've played Terranigma, but enjoyed the other two in the trilogy more.

I'd probably put it even with Illusion of Gaia, and both of them under Soul Blazer.

Also, Chrono Trigger is, and will always be, the #1 SNES JRPG.

Contrary to popular belief, are you aware SNES doesn't really have that many RPGs? Especially if you take Japanese only games out? CT is in the top 10 almost by default, even if you're not a sheep that thinks its #1.

Doesn't have many games? Ignoring Japanese only games, there are more than 20 rpgs out there for the snes. Now, that said, CT would get in the top 10 because of how good it is, but there are a ton of rpgs for the snes out there, only overtaken by the PS1 due to longevity of the system. 11 years compared to 8 years.

Lol.

But yeah there are no dufficulty spikes.

The only thing is when you are underleveled there is a weird hard cap where you deal almost no damage to a boss and if you gain one more level you have no problems anymore. But that should only happen if you just rush through the game and dont kill enemies. It is a little weird though.

No, it wouldn't. SotN's gameplay is entirely different

By this logic a game can't be an RPG unless it's turn-based. None of the Tales games are RPGs.
