Gabriella Ortutai-Hughes, from North Kensington, had gone to collect the meat she had ordered from the supermarket on December 22, but they didnt have the right size in stock. To try and make things better, they gave her a box of Cadbury Milk Tray.

Gabriella, 37, presented the box to her family and they all ate the chocolate then spotted a maggot trying to wriggle its way out of a Fudge Duet. The Learning Support assistant said the experience was upsetting and that she was disgusted at the thought her family may have unknowingly consumed other maggots.

Gabriella posted a short seven second clip to the supermarkets Facebook page with the caption: Lovely present I got for waiting one and a half hours for my Christmas order which was messed up, and I didnt had the crucial part to which would of been 60 worth of chateaubriand.

I still left the shop calm until today. Enough is enough.

One of Gabriellas children can be heard talking in the background about how he nearly ate the sweet treat, before spotting it. Gabriella said that after waiting an hour and a half to be given the wrong meat, she was furious but accepted the stores initial apology.

She said: There was a lovely sales assistant who offered me the chocolates and a bunch of flower as an apology. Thinking that I or my children may have eaten one, disgusted me. I am very upset about the whole situation. I dont normally order my Christmas food from there, this was the first and last time ever. My children are very upset about the maggot too.

A spokeswoman for Morrisons said: We would like to investigate this properly to find out what has happened. We would therefore ask the customer to return the item to a Morrisons store at her earliest convenience.

Reminds me of those stories you hear about what McDonalds employees do to the food before serving it.

I say this is fake. If the package was closed, a fly couldn't get in. If it laid it's eggs at the plant, the maggot would have emerged long before.

Plus there would almost certainly be other maggots scattered about inside the packaging

I like how she blames the store instead of the place the chocolates would have came from. How the flying fuck would the store have any way of knowing there was something wrong with the candy? Course there's also the whole

thing so... you know.

Also that looks more like a little bit of the filling just poking out rather than a maggot.

I can understand being upset about her order being missing but mistakes happen. I highly doubt they intentionally gave her a maggot infested box of chocolates. They felt bad and tried to do something to apologize and unfortunately a mistake was made. I dont think its fair to tack that on to her missing order and use that to complain.

There could be/have been

Does it say anywhere that this package was sealed when she got it? Also, considering she got flowers too, it's possible the maggot was on the flowers and fell into the box when opened.

This could be true as well because it really doesnt look like the maggot is coming out of a hole in the chocolate. Its just on it...

It was probably a chocolate with a whole nut in it. They can survive in those nuts pretty long (grubs). Had it happen.

the choc in the picture with a maggot on it is a fudge duet, so just fudge and chocolate. the nut one is next to it.
