She was working. A while back porn production got shut down because someone tested positive for HIV. We now know it was because of her. No word on if the people she worked with caught it or not. Media doesn't really report on this stuff.

I should probably mention in this thread...She hasn't retired. She is still shooting videos and customs.

...that's ridiculous and she should be charged if she's performed with anyone without their knowledge. And she should just retire. It doesn't matter if performers are willing to work with her--that's just increasing the likelihood of it spreading to others.

Most of her shoots have been solo vids anyways.

I mean, it depends how important stopping HIV is. It it was zombie apocalypses bad, then we're talking.

If everyone was forced to get tested in a short time frame and then the results were published on a site, that'd go a long way to cutting the infection rate down. A minor violation of privacy but . . . how about a little civil duty? I dunno.

Perhaps I don't understand/know the regulations in adult film, but why is it not required that all actors get tested and have the results back prior to filming another movie?

Monthly tests are necessary, and if they had to wait for each film then the industry would collapse. As a rule of thumb, most actresses will do two shoots for a single company in a single day. One solo, especially if they're a new girl with that company. And another that might not be solo, depends on how the film crew scheduled that day.

And again, HIV won't even test positive until 6+ months after contracting it. So even if you don't shoot again for 5 months or have any partners, you could test positive the next month because it finally had time to have enough virus present in your blood to be detected. Regulations help prevent further spread of it. But if you've seen any of those "who you've been in contact with through prior partners of partners" charts, well. You'd see how one who might do escort work on the side or has their own relationship partner(s) off set could result in somebody contracting it, then spreading it once they reach the point it can be spread but still before they get their next monthly test where they'd show up as positive.

Correct. So barring more money going into finding a more effective testing method that can discover it even a month or two sooner, the only other things would destroy the industry as they'd either limit the companies performers can work with, or they'd do some cult like "no sex outside the industry" thing and that still wouldn't improve the situation much as there would be people forced to break it.

Basically, the only real way to improve things would be to destigmatize sex work and those who engage in it, as well as legalized prostitution in a way that would put pimps out of business in metropolitan areas. But that won't happen because people are hypocrites and will gladly watch porn every few days but never want to associate with a porn star.
