Rey's not a Jedi. Luke's comment about that was one of the dumbest things. She could still BECOME a Jedi, if she reads the books and actually adheres to their teachings, but she's not going to. She's all aboard the GIRLPOWER express, fuck tradition, fuck mastery, I can do everything, I'm awesome because I'm a girl! If they'd have actually stuck with the title and just let the Jedi and their teachings die, it would have made more sense.

The entire point was to prevent the infighting that would eventually destroy them, and welp, here we are. Gee, who would have thought that a movie that spent fifty years talking about balance and powerful forces giving rise to their opponents in an endless cycle would include a plot device that is hinged on a powerful force user rising to oppose another powerful force user rooted in the exact opposite direction.

Luke literally got to where he was after a week of training with zero books being read and his only instructions in the way of the Jedi being a fifteen minute chat with Ben, a week at a geriatric muppets house in the glades, and a bunch of dusty legends he overheard well shooting random critters from his sand speeder. No one accused that movie of being a macho-misogynist power fantasy.

Guys, the original trilogy is a macho-misogynist power fantasy. Imagine a world where some dusty farm boy can just go into space and cripple an entire galactic empire with his redneck lightsaber skills. What a buncha bullshit. The kid had barely any training. Obi Wan was a jedi master who studied and trained for decades, and then here comes Brody McManlyson, AKA Luke Skywalker, lifting up his Arwing out of the swamp with one finger after waking up from a power nap. Total crap.

I am so sick of these movies ramming guys' jocks into my face. I wish I could have seen the rest of the movie but it was too hard to see with Luke's massive scrotum adhered to my eyelids.

I'm upset that people aren't lulling at the topic title and making other similar jokes with star wars or other media.

Also, imagine thinking TLJ is bad. LMAO

I think the problem here is that Rey could have legit been a girl power badass if her progression as a character made any sense at all. Instead her abilities as a Jedi felt like they were cheaply shoehorned in to fit the plot rather than the other way round.

So I get what you're saying - it's not actually pointed out at any point that it's significant that she's a woman - but it's also not really what I would call a strong female lead either when her abilities apparently apparated out of thin air for no good reason. I can see (although I disagree with) the idea that it was some SJW attempt to make a female hero.

Really I just think it was terrible writing and it means they missed the chance at making a female hero.

Dude, that's exactly how I feel toward Daisy. Not even her character, I really don't care about Rey to be honest, but Daisy herself is just splendid. She may not be as pretty as Gal Gaddot, but she has all those little characteristics that make her more lovable. Her huge smile, her wit, the way she always cringes her nose a little when she's laughing... it's just the way she talks, and thinks, and moves.

Like, honestly, sex wouldn't even have to be involved. If I could just hang out with her for a day, watch a movie, hit a restaurant, chill out for a while, maybe burn a bowl together, that would be awesome.

Can we say burn a bowl here? It's legal in my current state of residence. If not, sorry mauds, my bad.

Oh, you mean like when the kid who never left his home planet was able to dogfight a veteran starfighter (who, by the way, has literally been a fighter pilot since he was ten), beat him, survive longer than an entire squadron of legendary rebel pilots, and then used the force, despite having about five minutes of Jedi training, to literally make a near impossible shot without any sort of targetting system.

That's not even getting started on Anakin.

But please, tell me again how Luke was an incompetent hero.
