Not sure how many people are familiar with Super Bunnyhop's other critical close-ups on the series, but he finally made one on the 4th game after a couple of years!

i watched most of this before, it's very good. put into words how i feel about this game. it was honestly hard to place, I knew something was always "off" but I'm not that huge into MGS so I never really thought critically about it.

Yeah that was about what I expected

I can't argue with a lot of his points, but I still love the game despite its significant issues

Although I will say that this whole thing about how Kojima should have stopped after 3 is garbage. The ambiguity of 2 and whether it was real or not or whatever is nice but most people aren't going to interpret it that way. In the end he made an outstanding game with tons of burning questions that demanded answers - they just could have been answered better. But to just outright not make the game would have been really unacceptable to me. I would have had zero closure for my favourite ever series, and that might sound entitled, but I'd rather sound a little entitled than be left blue-balled by something I love so much. Like I said, there's more elegant ways to do it than what we got with 4, but it needed to be made. I've never "seen eye to eye" with Kojima on him being so desperate to end it after 3.

I've always been pretty conflicted on MGS4. I didn't get a PS3 to play it on until a couple of years after its release, and so I had hyped it up in my mind as this awesome, epic finale to one of my favorite series. I definitely wished I had followed the 1 act a day structure he talked about, because honestly I do remember getting pretty bored over the seemingly 1 hour flat cutscenes. I enjoyed the gameplay quite a bit but it never felt like enough especially when put against previous entries. Overall, l ultimately like the game but it's not one I feel an urge to ever replay again or one that's even incredibly memorable.

MGS4 has a lot of problems, but it's got a few really amazing moments in it that I think mostly make up for them. It's the weakest of the four real MGS games, though.

Pretty much 100% this, except for MGS being my favorite game series (but it's top 5). I would have hated it if we got no closure whatsoever. I've typed what you wrote here dozens over times over the years and I'm always glad to see folks in agreement. The whole "just leave it wide open" argument is so ugh.
