It's actually true though, however - there are a number of strains... some are just outright toxic and are used for making essential oils, but that's not usually what people are talking about ... yet SOMEHOW is the strain they test when trying for a ban agenda

This is scientifically and objectively a fact. THC and related cannabinoids have never, in the history of man kind, caused a death in a human being. Caffeine, in excessive use, is dangerous to your cardiovascular health, at the very least.

I don't know why you're even arguing this with me, it's pretty common knowledge. Now DRIVING intoxicated on Cannabis is different from driving on a cup of coffee. But health wise, the psychoactive ingredient is safer than caffeine. Period.

I had three cups of coffee this morning and was still able to operate a vehicle. If I smoked three blunts I would have been fucked.

Keep in mind, I'm in favour of legalization. I'd argue that anywhere where the majority is in favour, legalization has already happened (many parts of the US) or is about to occur (literally all of Canada).

The big reason I'd want cannabis legalized is so the people that fill up social media with "all positives, no negatives!" narratives would stop doing so. Secondary to that, I'd also rather the money go to new roads or hospitals than terrorists and gangsters :P

Why do people who love pot recreationally have to talk about it so much? My one buddy in particular, who I don't talk to as much these days for unrelated reasons, always brings it up no matter where the conversation was going. What is the motivation? I'm not trying to be a jerk or argue about it, I honestly want to know why it's such recurring topic. Does anyone not find it exhausting?

I talk about cars 24/7 almost. My late wife would joke that after I had a beer or two at a restaurant, I would start trying to explain to her something mechanically about cars. She said it was charming, and she found it cute, but that she was eating and really had no idea what I was saying without physically showing her.

They mean whatever excuse they can use to justify their position, because they aren't legitimately concerned with making accurate statements as much as they are using rhetoric to defend their chosen position.

Which is fine, because that's how 98% of all debates on the Internet go anyway, but I still always get a chuckle when someone says "Well, it's not habit forming!", because a lot of them absolutely DO believe that literally.



(And "it's not chemically addictive" wouldn't even necessarily be correct either, because by definition behavioral addiction tends to be a self-reinforcing chemical addiction based on neutrotransmitter reactions in the brain. In some ways, behavioral addictions like gambling addiction, porn/Internet addiction, video game addiction, etc can actually be more damaging than things which are chemically addictive in and of themselves.

Which is why some of the more insidious elements of tobacco addiction were less about the actual nicotine and more about the psychological behaviors and social norms attached to the behavior - ie, it's "cool" to smoke, it's a symbol of "maturity" to smoke, and so on. A large part of why smoking has declined so much over the last few decades has been because the cultural aspects of smoking were attacked directly, not because tobacco itself somehow became less addictive.)

This is the only argument I'd make, all the people who suffer due to governments outlawing substances or the good that could be done by taxing them.

People should have the right to kill themselves with coke if they want and businesses should be able to require drug tests and not hire people who partake.

Even in states where pot is currently legal, like mine, a large percentage of the population no longer, or never, wanted it to be legal. This especially includes most members that are over 60 (which is quite a large % of the population).

My neighbors for instance, mostly voted against making it legal, but those that did, have stated they wish they had not at this point. From their perspective it has led to some bad changes, more partying, and a more wild/tattoo'd/pierced crowd.

Now to most of us, that is not bad at all, but to older generations...that can be a serious down side.

Meanwhile obviously with such a large christian coalition in this country, prostitution is not supported by the majority, even though it should be. Heck free birth control isn't supported. I'd say even sex ed in school might have a hard time getting a majority.....so yeah, prostitution state wide is totally not supported.

At least drugs have less of a religious objection, and you can convince people that the war on drugs is dumb, and taxing drugs will do more good then making it illegal. They won't agree with it AFTER the change (at least from what I have seen), but your likely to get them to make it legal before they realize it...and then reversing the decision is going to be much more difficult.

Also....I've heard throughout my life that MJ is a gateway drug, and I never believed it. In CA, when it wasn't legal (have not lived there since it is), I saw lots of people use it, and no other drugs.

Thing is...when you make it legal, it seems like many other drugs become the new party norm, since you don't have to hide your doing pot anymore, something else seems to take it's place in order to fill the "being slightly bad" void. That at least is my theory on the changes, but the fact is that other drugs are being done far more often in Wa after pot was made legal...or at least all evidence I have seen points to that being the case.
