Well no one's posted all day. It's gonna be 58 tomorrow and snow on Friday.

I was considering biking to work tomorrow (it's gonna be 8C, perfect cycling weather!), but oh my god all the snow we had melted into a slushy layer of ice.

I would like to ride my bike more but I'm such a little fairweather bitch. If it's not between like 60 and 70 I almost never go. How do people ride their bikes when it's snowing and shit? Do you just have to go for it and eventually you get used to it?

I lost the key to my bike lock and as a result haven't ridden in over a year.

It hasn't even been below 40 for the majority of days here this winter. The highs have been sunny 50s and 60s like 80% of days and then 20s with light snow the other 20%. I could easily go for a ride but I like to make excuses

So we changed our Roth IRAs from Edward Jones to Charles Schwab because Schwab has lower fees apparently. Schwab also has a mobile app which is great but also the worst thing ever because I keep looking at my stock going down and being upset.

What kind of psycho hasn't given up on that already? Also that's impressive that you're not in debt. I am but it's not as much as most people my age are dealing with.

I don't know, what kind of psycho wants to work at Walmart or whatever, not have enough income to not live with their parents, and put a good degree to waste? I know that is the modern reality for a lot of people, but dammit, I don't want to have to live it.

I'm sure you've heard the story of Stardew Valley, right? The guy who made that was just trying to boost his credentials. He had a CS degree but he was stuck working movie theater jobs or something. Sometimes that just happens to people.

No he wasn't trying to boost his credentials, he was singularly devoted to making the game for years. His girlfriend supported him through all of it too which is pretty rare. Anyway I'm not trying to slag you down or anything with that comment, I'm just too cynical at this point to think anything good will ever happen to me or anyone I know let alone the world.

I mean wasn't that the original reason he set out to develop it? I assume that after a certain point, when he realized how big the scope was getting and saw the popularity on Greenlight, then yeah he might have figured that could be his career by itself.

Anyways, I'm by no means saying that I'm as talented as him, but my point was that good talent/potential gets ignored all the time. I am pretty cynical too and don't think I'll ever get a good job but when the alternative isn't attractive either I might as well keep trying

I don't think ConcernedApe ever really applied for a job. He was too scared to enter the work force and started making the game to practice his dev skills and then the project spiraled out of control. There's a good book about game development stories with him among them, it's called Blood Sweat and Pixels

Anyway if a person doesn't have a wife or kids and they're fed up with this capitalist hellscape then they can always leave the country for some sort of higher calling like the freedom corps or education. I'm only 26 and relatively new on my stupid job that pays me decently but if I decide I can't handle it and can't find anything better I'm somewhat comforted by the presence of teach abroad opportunities.

I was interested in teaching abroad, but I have a friend who has been teaching in South Korea for 7 years now and he has no savings because they barely pay enough to cover living expenses. Apparently in Japan it's worse, as it's social custom to go to bars after work, where you spend even more money. It sounds like a fun job and an interesting life experience, but you probably wouldn't have much to show for it when you're all done.

No but I'm not gonna have anything to show for my time here either. At least it would be fun and enlightening

I'd rather teach in South America. I wonder if there are jobs in my birth city...

Also there's nothing to show for my time here. And considering the average home in Toronto sells for $770k, I would barely have anything to show even if I was pulling rottenmonk cash (which isn't actually that much but I wanted to make that reference).

I'm almost finished up with OoT3D. I was afraid it would be hard to go back to after BotW, and in a way it was, but I think that was just the child Link sections, and I've felt for a long time now those are dead weight on the game. Overall I find it still holds up and has things to offer that BotW doesn't, but I know it too well at this point. It would have been nice if they let you do MQ from the start since that would inject some much-needed new life into it for me. Oh well, I'll try an MQ run next year if there isn't some 20th anniversary Switch version by then

All I'm going to say is that if the Vikings lose to the Saints again, the self hatred of this fanbase is going to reach critical levels

My Roth IRA increased in value by 1150% today.

The Edward Jones account finally merged into my Charles Schwab one.

Also I don't understand stocks at all. My dad thought I was messing with him on my ride home because I was asking such basic questions.

We were down 4-0 with 9 minutes left in the third period. One of our Dmen got a penalty. So we proceeded to score 2 shorthanded goals in 30 seconds. 4-2. In the last 3 minutes, we got another. 4-3. With 3.3 seconds left, we scored to tie it and send it to OT. we ended up tying.
Huge win from being down 4-0
