ive been playing The Evil Within 2 for a little while now. Got like halfway through, but tonight as I was playing I kept dying at a forced stealth part and realized that I just was not having a good time anymore and was waiting for the game to end so I could play other stuff in my backlog. And it's weird too because it's not like I hated the game, I enjoyed a lot of it. ended up uninstalling the game off my xbox on a whim and now i feel free

what about you CE

State of Decay

On paper it's everything I've wanted from a zombie game.

- Huge open world
- Numerous weapons/vehicles
- Focus on survival more than action
- Community-building functions

However the community building was a larger part of the game than I anticipated.

My first hour or so into the game I'm stuck in a safe zone (and I'm now the leader apparently) with numerous sick people inside, food running out, a night that lasted weirdly long, and zombies clawing at/massing outside the walls.

Eventually I put it down because I wasn't having fun, I was actually getting fucking stressed out over shit in it.

Dragon Age Inquisition

I quite liked what I played of it, but there's this point halfway through the game where you have to gain a ton of power through quests to get through the main story. I might've actually trued to push through that, but the disc went missing for a couple months, so the little interest I has left was stomped out.

Pokemon Moon, although I think that was mostly because of Ultra SuMo releasing just shy of a year later. I'm hoping a fresh start in the new version will rekindle my interest. Already almost got a full team now thanks to event Rockruff and better early game variety, so that's helping at least.

This interests me greatly-the main quest is actually very short if you keep at it, it's the sidequests that can eat days and weeks.

What didn't you like about it?

Anyways: I don't finish most games I start, honestly. Even a game I really like, like Hitman, I haven't finished the story of (Playing a bunch of the escalations in Italy instead). GTA V is the only AAA title I've completed this gen. XCom 2 if strategy counts, but I still haven't gotten around to finishing War of the Chosen.

Mostly these are games I don't have specific issues with, I just moved on to other things. One game I got actually frustrated with was Project Cars 2, because of the way it handles on gamepad. Oh and FFXV just totally did nothing for me. I rented it on Gamefly and sent it back with like an hour's playtime.

I started doing some side quests part of the way through the main story and got bored of them. They just felt like the same 5 or so quests over and over with a different lick of paint. I did a bit more of the main story and felt it was the same thing.

A map full of filler crap. It was something that was becoming more and more of an issue for me over time and that game just did it in for me. I also didn't finish Dragon Age Inquisition for the same reason. There is a good game in there buried under dozens of hours of miserable and boring content.

Nioh got boring about halfway

Don't normally drop games halfway. Dropped pretty quickly though were The Witcher (horrendous acting, bland combat) and Borderlands, bland grey landscapes everywhere and fetch quest garbage. I will never understand why people like that one.

My favorite genre. Ones with shitty gameplay I can only play for so long.

Case in point, I forgot to include Tales of Berseria. That one was painful to put down. Loved everything about it outside of the mind numbing combat.

If you decide to go back, just smash through the main quest-it's not that long and if you do it early it's actually a challenge (it's a snoozefest you can just tank if you wait too long, only the DLC bosses actually give you any trouble past level 25-30. It's supposed to scale with your level but it didn't seem like it).

I can only think that you must have got yourself too bogged down with sidequests-keeping in mind that all RPG sidequests are either kill this or find that so it shouldn't be anything new if you've been playing RPGs a while.
Skyrim's sidequests felt like they were fairly dull outside of the guild storylines, I'll give you that but otherwise it was mostly decent and Witcher 3 was pretty well written throughout so I didn't ever get bored with those.
FFXV wasn't a complete failure, but I wasn't super impressed with it and just carried on with the main story for the most part and haven't gone back to it after that woeful ending so I hear you on that one.

This was months ago, so I kinda forget my progress. Definitely got up to the place where the intro has a guy chopping another guy's hand off, and there was also some sidequest about returning a stupid VCR tape. It's not too far into the game.

I'm sure I could've soldiered through if I wanted, but my attention got split and I just never went back. Good tips, though. I don't recall going after a ton of airdrops, especially since most were landing far away and I'd be fighting gunmen (probably).

Dying Light? You could probably find the complete package (or whatever it's called) for $20 or under. I think that's what I got it for on a Black Friday years ago, so it's probably even cheaper now.
