Pretty standard list, but:

Soundgarden - Badmotorfinger
Metallica - Master of Puppets
Smashing Pumpkins - Siamese Dream

4/10
This is a little much for me... Cornell has always been a little too over the top of a vocalist for me, and I just have a hard time feeling the anger and emotion the same way the music intends. Some really good riffs though, this is a very hard hitting record but I cant connect.

8/10
80s Metallica had this raw edge that lets the music really come alive. Theyre arguably at their most creative here, playing with progressive song structures and still hardly ever letting the energy up. Could use some slight trimming on a few songs, but this really does deserve its classic status. Theres even some beautiful moments in here.

9/10
Definitely the most consistent Pumpkins record, and it finds them in a sweet spot between the jams of Gish and theatricality of Mellon Collie. The guitar sound on this album is just beautiful, and unlike many, I adore Corgans vocal style. Some of the bands most tender moments are in here, Disarm, Mayonaise, Spaceboy...these hit hard. A classic.

A lot of heart in this album, definitely the Radiohead record with the most soul. A little uncohesive at times, I feel the tracks dont quite flow together, but that doesnt really matter because every song is great, catchy, and truly emotional. A great piece of soft alt rock.

9/10
For the longest time I definitely preferred The Bends over this one, because outside of Exit Music, Let Down, and No Surprises, the songs dont hit me quite as hard emotionally. However, the atmosphere on this album is incredibly strong, and theres really nothing else that quite sounds like this. I would say its not quite as consistent as The Bends quality wise, but the high points are out of this world and definitely elevate the albums score.

9/10
Definitely the best Radiohead album. Taking influence from all sorts of styles, from IDM to krautrock, to even jazz, all in one consistent package. There isnt a dull moment in here, it was refreshing to see such a popular group take such an experimental edge, and it worked out wonderfully.

6/10
Some catchy songs and a pleasant atmosphere. My problem is that it feels too clean, a little too complacent. Its definitely a good listen but I dont really gain anything by listening to this the way Radioheads earlier work would do.

I always forget how much I love Siouxsie. This album kicks serious ass, its got a strong moody gothicness to it but a sort of punk energy that would be absent in their later work that gives this an exciting aggression. Not every song works but the ones that do elevate this score. Maybe their best work.

4/10
Dont get me wrong, I like some Zeppelin, but even their best work doesnt rock my world or anything. Arguably Zeppelin at their most Zeppelin here, its a little too serious for me and I prefer the more simple blues of their earlier recordings. The same things that worked for them in the past still work here, but to diminishing results. Its also just far too long, and parts of it really annoy me. Good in spots, but mostly a chore.

Insanely likable, Rundgren has a really inviting personality, especially on the more traditional pop numbers. I actually kinda prefer when Todd sticks to more conventional pop/rock here, Id say he experiments a little too much with a bit of everything here. I definitely dig this in the right mood though.

Definitely seems like the Beat Happening album that they gave more of a shit making, which could maybe go against the point of the band, but it works and its a fitting end to their career. The songs arent quite as poppy and immediate, but they feel so grand and immersive. Still has that trademark primitivity of their prior work too, its a great balancing act.

I... dont really think I get what this album is trying to achieve. It seems to be going for some kind of Replacements/Springsteen type of appeal to the tired working class, but it doesnt really have the catchy immediacy that makes them so great. Theyre also trying to do this long punk epic thing on almost every song. I dont know its not bad per se but I get absolutely nothing out of it.

The Motrhead formula is one thatll never wow you, but its sure fun as hell to listen to. Just straightforward bluesy metal tunes one after the other. Quick and easy to put on and have a good time with, with a few true classics (Overkill, Stay Clean, Limb From Limb). Cant say every song is a winner but its far more fun than not.
