I doubt it. This was probably a mass email to several hotels. It's not unusual for people to put out feelers like this. It's actually a smart move. This guy may have said no, but two more will eventually say yes.

It's definitely a mass email trying to mootch a free hotel visit, I'm just glad she chose the wrong hotel to put on her list...

That hotel is known for trolling people, so she should have done some research and she fully deserves any hate she gets...

The hotel on the other hand got completely free publicity and more followers that like seeing entitled bloggers put in their place...

She was begging for something. That automatically disqualifies it from being "polite" or professional. The fact that she thought her "exposure" was more valuable than her paying for a service was pure arrogance. Especially since this was Universal Studios, they already are on the map. What was this small fry blogger going to do? Especially since most of her followers are probably just horny men who don't care about the content she makes.

Was the hotels response a little abrasive? Sure. But anyone who's played an MMO can tell you how annoying beggers can get after a while.

If the person was someone like.... Casey Neistat, I could see it working in their favor as the guy has over 6 million followers on Youtube, plus his other medias. But someone who has less than 100K? At least get over 500k then you can talk about getting maybe a discount.

Hell, I think Casey would pay for the accommodations, though he probably gets a complimentary breakfast or something.

I read everything and 100% agree with the hotel.. So much so that I would actively seek them out if I were staying in that area...

That was clearly a mass message she sent to a bunch of hotels looking for a free ride... If she bothered to do ANY research beforehand, she would have known that particular hotel is one of the LAST people you want to send something like that too.

If she were say.... 150k followers I could see her opening up the lines of communication for maybe a discount in exchange for social media presence, but not asking for things for free.

Same goes for everybody in this topic. The hotel owner got an attitude problem, as does the owner and shouldn't have posted the exchange like that. Her point is valid, and he was right to say no, but he took it way to far. Except it was a PR stunt to spark debate that's worked 100% in getting them new customers and social media followers. This is the 2nd one in recent time they've done, the restaurant is known for being snarky with people.

It's a cheeky request, but it's sometimes helpful. Granted, I'm not sure that her following would be any real help and, in general, social exposure is often a meaningless statistic because you're not getting exposure with the right crowd. More importantly, she was trying to book a free stay during one of the busier weekends of the year where most hotels tend to be booked.
