got a strange text message from verizon a few days ago basically accusing me of not going to pay them this month. I checked my old bank records and I have an automatic payment set up that always goes out on the 4th every single month. it's never been a problem before. this month, they act like for some reason I plan on not paying. and they warn me to pay by today or risk losing my number and service. I have no idea what they are going on about. today I wait and see what happens. if I lose my service, I can still tell my parents over wifi using facebook. this is very strange

Sounds like a scam, they seem to be common nowadays. Did they mention a payment link and cryptocurrency?

no. it seemed to be from my phone company. I thought it was legit. it just said to make a payment. I think maybe its just a glitch in their system. I'm waiting today to see what happens and my guess is nothing will happen. but if it does, I will facebook my mom and she or my dad is gonna take to me the verizon store and get it sorted out

Your roommate probably gambled it away on the way to make the payment. I've seen it in a lot of sitcoms.

just got a new message saying my account balance expires today. don't even know what that means. the only options they gave me was to use the My Verizon app but for unknown reasons that app stopped working for me months ago. and to call and talk to a person and make a payment. which I don't want to do. the entire reason I made automatic payments was so I wouldn't need to worry about things like this or talk to people. so I guess I am losing my phone. just talked to my dad on what was probably my last phone call ever and he just told me to call and wouldn't help me so I hung up on him. If Verizon doesn't want to take my money than to hell with them. I'll jut let it expire and then switch the local company, GCI which my entire family is on anyway except me.

it is a very scary and stressful thing for me to talk to a stranger on the phone. I never do it. it would give me a panic attack.

Call Verizon and ask if a text was sent to your phone.
It sounds like a phishing scam to me.
Also check your online banking and see if the payment has gone through yet.

it hasn't gone through on my banking records. but it's only 10 am (in alaska) I don't know when they take it. I dont like it when things like this happen. lots of times I let stuff get worse because I am given no easy option to fix it. the world is run on "talk to a representative". nobody caters to people like me who don't want to talk to a representative

yes but my parents will be with me. and I actually can talk to people more easily in person than on the phone. I know it sounds weird. but maybe it's cause I can see their face and tell if they are getting mad or annoyed at me or not. I just can't talk to people I don't know on the phone and wonder constantly if I am angering them or something. I cant' tell what they are thinking.

2. I don't make up lies. everything I say is real about my life. I am not a troll with a gimmick

3. adults can have fears and anxieties too

4. thinking it's ok to be scared of spiders and flying and driving and swimming but that it's not ok to be scared of talking to strangers means you in fact do not understand, even if you say you do. again, you don't get it. my condition is an alien concept to you and you don't understand why it's such a big deal because to you talking to a stranger is like breathing. you are incapable of grasping why it's a big deal to me and why it's a problem in my life.

i really hate talking to strangers and on the phone (outside of work) but in a situation like this sometimes you really just need to bite the bullet and make the call. you're willing to have your phone lapse over what could be a technical error and stew over it because your anxiety is getting the better of you. you're just affecting your own quality of life but it is what it is.

Well I hope you figure it out, when I was younger I had a lot of anxiety about talking to strangers on the phone and I always hate answering the phone at work

It gets easier the more you do it though

I only call my parents anyway. and thye don't want to help me keep my ability to talk to them. so whatever. if it happens it happens. I will alert my mom over facebook cause I still have internet. and at some point we will just go to the GCI store I guess cause fuck Verizon.

my parents usually help me with stuff but somethings they don't get it. and sometimes they need a little example to show how serious I am.

why don't you just get one of those prepaid phones and buy the data/minutes on the cards? that way you don't have to use it if you don't want to and you don't have to talk to people.

to answer something someone said in this topic. I have siblings to fall back on in the distant future. particularly my older brother who is a lawyer and has alot of money. he helps me sometimes with things too. and he probably will take over someday from my parents

My best suggestion for you Zikten, is to get everything related to the bill in front of you (Ex: Account number, your credit card or banking info, a glass of water), go to your providers homepage and get the support phone number.
Turn off all outside distractions like television and take the phone call one step at a time; and remember.. they want your money, so they are more than willing to hold your hand as you figure this out.
First calls are never easy, but as much as you imagine you won't adapt to calls, you will. It's essentially speaking face to face, but everyone there has extra incentives to make it easier on you.

just decided to give My Verizon another chance and this time it had me logged in mysteriously for the first time in like 5 months and told me my payment is set for tonight. this is highly bizarre. the app was broken for almost half a year. and it just happens to work again today of all days. of course I have way of knowing if it's telling me the truth or that verizon will wait til tonight for the payment or they will shut me off before then. I wonder what would happen if they shut me off this afternoon and then an auto payment went through tonight..... I wonder if I could sue

oh and I have a debit card. that's what i use. I have never had a credit card and have no score because of that. debit cards don't built score

Inwas wondering if they have online service. I know that sprint had an online customer representative online to talk to. And you know you can do that...

You would probably only be able to sue if they didn't turn on the service after the payment goes through... Anyway, you may have to change the payment date. Look back at older bills and see if one didn't go through for some reason. You should be able to check online. It's does sound right. Verizon likes their money. I've seen bills go in really late for them... you can just set up payment arrangements like crazy for Verizon... Also, I know what you mean about calling people. I would rather talk face to face as I can actually read them. But I also understand that talking on the phone is necessary. But if you can't, you can't. It's hard to deal with things like that. Especially in a world where communication from far away is needed more... Are you siblings close enough to take you to the Verizon store? Or could one of them help you with the call? Maybe a conference call? Also, you need to calm down a little. You can't think clearly if you panic.

yea I have 2 siblings in the same town as me. and my parents. my parents are at church right now. part of the reason my dad was testy with me was I called when they were about to go to church. and we got mad at each other and I hung up. I don't think it will be that bad. the worst that happens, I lose my verizon account and phone service for a few days, and it will just give me an excuse to finally switch to the local Alaskan company.

I tried to explain it. but it's hard. when I have people saying that being scared of spiders is an ok fear but that talking to people on the phone is not, that's when I get upset and frustrated. I know it's a weird and dumb and irrational fear. and I know that most people don't have this problem. society is designed with the assumption that you don't have this problem.

What are you afraid will happen if you call a representative and talk to him on the phone?
