I'm sure that the kids that were on the townhall were genuine in their feelings. However, if the point of the townhall was to give the kids that were their a chance to express how they feel about everything, then trying push the kid into expressing opinions that match what you want to hear (rather than their own) is not accomplishing that.

For the record, I 100% agree that if CNN told this kid not to say what he wanted and instead say X, thats COMPLETELY wrong. Im just saying its one person claims this, the other person denies without even circumstantial evidence pointing one way or the other, so Im not coming down too hard on either party.

Considering they had a student go off script and ask Nelson a "gotcha" question she meant for the NRA that was almost impossible to answer, of course they vet and have knowledge of the questions before hand.

Do you guys actually think live interviews, be it in politics or sports or whatever, don't have an idea of questions asked? Come on people

Depends if you believe her or not when she was doing her whole media tour to push her book back in like, what, last summer? The Wikileaks email said something like "From time to time I get questions in advance. Here's one about HRC" and that was the only specific reference to it happening, so it depends on what you believe or not. Also I remember aides who worked with Bernie came out when it happened and said she was in contact with them as well.

I'm not doubting the communication happened, but I don't think it's as nefarious as people made it out to be.

I think you're missing the point. Of course most interviews are scripted. That's not the issue. The issue is that this was supposed to be an opportunity for the students who were there to express how they themselves as individuals felt about this. This kid's opinion didn't line up with CNN's agenda, so they gave him some bullshit scripted question that didn't match his personal opinion at all. That's the issue.

If we're gonna give the kids a chance to speak then we should let them speak. Trying to control their words defeats the entire purpose.

one of those moms sounded like she was on horse tranqs and she just went on and on for a really long time and in the end her question was just, "what are you going to do about this"
