True. There were a lot of people complaining when the Packers went with Rodgers over Favre for at least a few years. Every incomplete pass or loss was "Favre would have completed it or won the game".

The only team that is getting away from that recently is Philly since Foles was forced into the role and they ended up winning. I would say there will be naysayers on both sides next season when they start losing, but apparently his contract forces him to be traded next season so it doesn't matter.

Luckily since Semen, Lynch and Brock are all terrible that kind of thing wouldn't happen here

I'm guessing that's the plan as far as the Mariners FO is concerned but I think he probably doesn't intend for this to be his last season. He might have to just go back and become an Orix Buffalo if he sucks enough to get released

I just read the story on ESPN about Ichiro and he repeatedly says he will play until he's 50 whether that's here or in Japan. The story also stresses how his life is consumed by baseball and he said he will die when he retires. So he's not retiring any time soon if it's up to him.

That was a really nice article because we tend to treat Ichiro sort of like a joke figure with all the weird things he does and says but it's not a joke to him at all.

I hope that isn't true but I doubt it is seeing as they haven't even had the chance to talk to Captain Kirk yet

Shamefully, I have been devouring NFL media the past couple weeks (I have nothing better to do at work, and in my actual life). Most of this is just smoke and mirrors of course, but plenty of Vikings people yes, but also national reports, ones with a lot of credibility. This is all just speculation at this point...one guy might say today it's a done deal with the vikings, and tomorrow he'll say the Jets will sign him. I could link you a bunch of stuff that doesn't matter, but one thing that stands out is that Denver has just under $24 mil in cap space (which can of course be changed) and MN has just over $48 mil
I think AZ has low cap, and NYJ has a lot, but word on the twittersphere is that A. the vikings will throw a shitload of money at him (as they should) and Cousins will take a bit less money to play for a better team (which I hope)

My biggest fear is that the vikings will go all in on kirk, lose, and also lose on case/sam/teddy in free agency, and then be stuck without a good draft pick (like NYJ and Denver have) and be stuck right back in QB purgatory...Christian Ponder days all over again

I've been beating this horse for a while, but if you want any more proof that MLB's economy is completely broken look no further than Mike Moustakas signing a one year/$5.5 million deal. He's gonna make 3 million less than he did last year when he hit 38 homers. No team would go better than 5.5 apparently. So fucking stupid.

Didn't he kinda wait too long? I think all of the teams who needed a third baseman already made moves. He'll probably get paid next season.
