Well UMBC is done. It was a nice effort but it was kind of frustrating to watch, they are playing decent defense and getting some okay looks but can't shoot for shit

Our dogs gave it a great effort but they couldn't advance again. I'm still forever proud to be a Retriever.

I only got a pathetic six of the Sweet 16... but I have all six of those in my Elite 8, and three of my Final Four intact, so maybe it'll turn out okay.

I just learned a disturbing truth: if you look at those Snapchat knockoff stories on Facebook, the creator will see that you did. So if you're stalking someone and they have a story up, think carefully about your next move.

In other news, they said my car is gonna cost $3000 which is $1000 more than I paid for the actual vehicle just to replace some parts. What the hell is happening to this country

Edit: and before you give advice I'm not paying no damn $3000 to fix that car, I'd sell it to a junk yard for 300 first

I haven't used Facebook in a long time so I didn't know this exist, but I do know that if you look at an Instagram video for 3 seconds, it adds you to the list of viewers. It makes me feel obligated to "like" it, so I don't use Instagram much since that update.

I did not know that. That's a legit nightmare so thanks for the heads up. Unfortunately I can never quit Instagram until such a time as there is a better avenue to view pictures of my nieces

I want to delete my Facebook but I don't want to be that guy who makes a big stink about it, and I also don't want to just disappear without any warning. I'm pretty good about not logging in to it, but every month or two somebody who I don't really want to talk to will tag me in some shit I don't care about, and then I don't want to be rude so I feel obligated to respond or at least give it a like.

They also do a bunch of shady shit but I realize there's basically no escaping some of that in today's internet

They're having a particularly bad week in terms of shadiness but luckily for them most people don't care. I don't even care enough to figure out what I should be doing to protect myself better and i feel like I am along with everyone else in this topic in the 99th percentile of online wisdom, which is to say I'm alright at posting and I'm not naive about what I'm doing

It's the first day of spring and it's snowing. Guess how many jokes have been made about this at work. At least it's not Monday!

Frame damage is always an expensive nightmare to fix, and it's never truly right afterwards. I'm with you, junk the old thing.

We had a big hailstorm last year and the insurance people said it would cost over $4,000 to fix, no thanks. You can barely even see the dents unless you're up close and at a certain angle

How did you guys like Mario Odyssey compared to other 3d ones? I played 64 a bit back in the day but this is the first 3d Mario I've really played

It's probably the best one. The only one that people tend to agree isn't great is Sunshine though.

I was just watching Game Grumps play Golf Story and it looks pretty good. I wish I had a Switch so I could play it.

Of course, they said the game was boring and gave up on the story 10 minutes in and switched to VS. Mode., but I can see the potential.

"Pretty good" is a good descriptor of Golf Story. Worth playing if you have a Switch but not something that would have moved the needle for me much if it wasn't an exclusive.

Odyssey is my favorite 3D Mario with the caveat that my experience with Sunshine is pretty limited but it definitely wasn't my favorite anyway

Odyssey is fantastic. I'd say it's probably the best 3D Mario. It's definitely better than 64 and Sunshine. The Galaxies are great and you could make a case that they're better, but personally I think I enjoyed Odyssey more.

I've seen arguments that the platforming elements of Odyssey are a little dumbed down vs the Galaxy games and that may be true but I think Odyssey is just such a complete package and it's full of like game magic (for lack of a better, less cheesy and fanboyish term). Some of the captures just made me shake my head because of how crash Nintendo went with Odyssey

Anyway I've been playing Nioh while we're talking games. It's fun and cool but it's too hard. Cheers

And now just to pontificate on Nintendo games for a moment, I'm thinking about times when they went all out with a game in an established franchise like that and a couple things come to mind, Breath of the Wild of course and Fire Emblem: Awakening which famously was going to be the last one so they just went wild. The odd thing about these three games is that despite being huge departures, Awakening and presumably Breath of the Wild established new templates for the series (though the Awakening template was really shoehorned into Fates) while Odyssey seems non repeatable. Whereas I'm excited about the next Zelda evolving that open world formula I could not possibly guess what's next for Mario. Probably he won't get another crazy one for a long time

I'm sure we will get Odyssey 2 but after that I don't know. It was too much of a smash hit to not build on it and it came out in the first year of the Switch so they're probably already working on the sequel. Cappy is such an ingenious design choice that it is hard to think about what could come next. But let us capture Boos in Odyssey 2 at least.

I kinda hope they go all out with the modern/futuristic tech that's been a trend in Zelda lately, but I'm not sure how that would work. Like having full-blown cities would be lame to me, so maybe it isn't really a great idea. You guys who have watched more movies and stuff probably have a better idea of how to merge classical fantasy with futuristic themes.

I think they could do a cool futuristic Zelda using time travel. Like half the game (and half the map) is more traditional Zelda setting and the other half is thousands of years in the future. It would be interesting to see the mechanics of BotW applied to a city with skyscrapers and such. The New Donk City of Hyrule.

What if it was just New Donk City? What if the new Zelda and the new Mario we're speculating on were THE SAME GAME?

I don't think it would be that difficult. As you say they're halfway there already and BotW was also in some ways a post apocalypse story. I liked that concept art they showed a while back where Link had like a curse that gave him a calamity Ganon looking arm which gave him dangerous powers. Something like that could be fun to make a new signature mechanic in a tonally different story. I think they're probably going to have to leave Hyrule this time though because now we have a full map of the continent

Oh, and Johnny Manziel showed up at San Diego's pro day, which I don't really care about, but I read that one of the teams that had a scout watching was the Browns, which is hilarious to me

The Marlins had another legitimately catchy one when they got the new stadium and uniforms called we are the Marlins
