A couple of years ago some of my friends moved to St. Paul, MN. Their verdict: snow is interesting but the weather is colder than they'd like.

snow is kinda fun from thanksgiving until Christmas, when the "Winter/christmas" spirit is still fun. After that, don't get me started. Also St. Paul is alright but it kinda sucks. Come to mpls (I was born in saint paul)

Public transport is actually really interesting. Like in cities like london/tokyo/NYC (and many many other cities obv), it would be literally impossible to get around without it. If I could restart my life and pick a new major, I'd pick Sim City/transit/Cities: Skylines

I almost never look at jobs outside Colorado intentionally, but sometimes I see some in the Twin Cities. I don't think I'd hate it there since I'm at least sort of used to the cold (just not on that level). In a way I'd kind of like trying out a different city but Denver is cool so idk

Riding the train in Tokyo was a lot of fun. In Montreal it was too. It's fun to ride a train at like 2 AM and not feel like you're in danger and then your mom asks you what you did last night and becomes terrified that you're going to get killed on the train

That was Carlos Martinez, and it was so dumb that he got publicly scolded because who was that hurting? Twitter is a 17+ app anyway, it's not his fault that some kids saw some shit they shouldn't have.

I liked the train in Vancouver a lot better than the one we have here. I think that's the extent of my major transit train experience

I'm deprived and have only rode the train here in Toronto. It's fine, but if one part of the system is delayed, the entire thing just goes to shit.

I never heard about the Carlos Martinez thing until just now. I saw a video that scrolls through his favorites and it's funny because there's like 8 close up pics of vaginas and then a random picture of his teammates and then 5 more vaginas.

The Timberwolves are just losers. No other way around it. Literally the biggest game since 2005 and they shit the bed while looking like they don't give a shit. I don't know anything about basketball, but these guys don't deserve to make the playoffs and if they do they will lose in the first round guaranteed

They apparently still hold the tiebreaker over the Nuggets anyway, and the Nuggets have an insane schedule to end the season. Ten straight games against playoff contenders. They've put a nice little streak together but they basically need to win every game left to make it, and I don't see that happening.

Meanwhile the Avs lost again, as expected. Hopefully the Blues win tonight, otherwise I'll be mad that the Avs could have clinched with one measly win in the past few games. We're totally going to lose on Saturday

You'll be fine. Looking at the other schedules, I might have better luck hoping for the Pels, Thunder or Spurs to slip up, since they have relatively harder schedules, even if they have more wins now.

The wolves lost to Memphis right after they got beat by 40. There have been a lot of times this season where they lose to really bad teams that they never should have lost to.

I heard he's just about good to go. Probably didn't play because he's not quite 100% and they don't want to risk it.

For the first time in a while I'm going to have access to moderately gaming worthy internet. What games should I get? I was thinking about getting Overwatch on PS4 maybe or Splatoon 2. And I probably won't get anything right away but I'm curious to hear your recs. I also have a PC that could play some not too intensive stuff but I'm sure Overwatch is out of its league and from what I've heard PUBG probably is too.

My humble opinion:
Overwatch is fantastic. First shooter I loved in a long long time. I don't play anymore but I was really into it for a long time
I like PUBG but I'm pretty casual. Haven't played in forever.
Fortnite is all the rage right now but it's not my cuppa tea. It's free to play tho

Overwatch looks really good. It and Splatoon being less "traditional" than like COD or whatever make it appealing to me. Who did you play as in Overwatch?

Rocket League is the only multiplayer game I've really played in a long time, but it's fun and I'd recommend it. I can't remember if you said you've already played it though

I always kind of filled in based on what the team needs, so that means I healed a lot because everyone instalocks dps. I had a few characters I "mained" in for each role
Tank: Reinhardt, zarya, Winston
Dps: mcree, soldier 76
Healz: zenyatta (can actually kill people while healing) Mercy (I know they changed her but I used to play a ton of old Mercy)

Oh yeah like chewy said, rocket league is really good too

I have played Rocket League. I thought it was cool but decided I would never be good at it so never played again after the first couple hours. Obviously I have the perfect mindset for a competitive gamer.

Re: Overwatch characters, that makes sense that everyone picks DPS I guess but I hadn't really thought about it. One time a few months ago I looked through all the characters and decided McRee would be my favorite just based on design.

Get the "I'm your Huckleberry" voice line and spam it all game. That's how to be a good mcree player

I always think that if I ever play Overwatch I should play support since I probably lack the hair trigger required for DPS and because people would rather not play support in games in general so maybe I can become ok at a less standard role

That's one of the reasons I like Winston a lot. I can't shoot at all. There are characters for all roles that don't rely on being an accurate shooter tho

Hell yeah dawg. It was $40 on PC and $60 on PS4 so that was a no brainer. It was also kind of nice to finally learn a shooter with keyboards and mouse instead of a controller

I figured, I just asked in case I could have potentially had a team up partner someday. Oh well.......................

The Angels are actually coming here this year but it's only for two games so chances are slim that we'd even get an Ohtani start. It would be cool seeing him bat in an NL lineup. I'd almost say we could get some neat lineup possibilities, but considering he's batting 8th already and it's not that unusual for NL teams to bat the pitcher 8th, that wouldn't be very interesting

from what I understand, if the blues get a point (regulation win, OT win, or OT loss) they're in the playoffs.
If the Aves win in regulation, they're in the playoffs. So if it's tied late in the 3rd, CO will pull the goalie during a tie game

I'd say the Spurs have no trade leverage, but Cleveland proved us wrong with the Kyrie trade... sort of. It seemed really good at the time, and then it was awful in practice, but then another trade later it managed to work out pretty well for them.

And yes, I think you're right on the Blues/Avs situation. So I was wrong before that there would be no benefit to the Blues losing tonight to Chicago. Man, I don't know if I dig the whole OT loss point thing, and not just because it could adversely affect my team. I've seen it pejoratively referred to as the "loser point" before, and that's an apt nickname. It makes some sense for ties since you're splitting the game's assumed two-point value, but the loser point is just adding shit out of nowhere for no reason. These guys are pros, why do they need a consolation prize

Yeah I hate it when it's close to playoffs, and both teams playing are tied are trying to get in the playoffs, so at 8 minutes left in the game they all stop playing just to ensure they get at least 1 point. Have you heard about the 3-2-1 point system that some people want the NHL to do? 3 points for a regulation win, 2 points for an overtime/shootout win, and 1 point for an overtime loss or tie

I just heard about the 3-2-1 system like 20 minutes ago when I was googling "loser point" (which I made sound like a semi-obscure term but is apparently pretty common). I think that's still kind of stupid, either they should add back 1-point ties or just make it pure W-L record.

Of course, the Avs have three more loser points than the Blues, so I have to mention that the benefit works both ways. But I'd rather just get rid of it entirely, since on a macro-level it affects everyone equally. Obviously a given team benefits from it more than others each year, but there's no consistent year-to-year trends to my knowledge

sort of on topic, but I've heard commentators discussing how the Wild is kind of an awkward name for a team for a commentator, because they used to not be sure if they say (for example) "The Wild are going to the playoffs" or "The Wild is going to the playoffs"
and things like that

I've never thought about that. That is really weird. "Harrison Smith is my favorite Viking" sounds perfectly normal, but "MacKinnon is my favorite Avalanche" and "Staal is my favorite Wild" sounds just plain wrong
