For anyone who doesn't already follow Wario64, you can get a 20% PSN discount code by going to live.playstation.com and watching a 30 second Far Cry 5 trailer. The code is good until the end of April, so you can get Yakuza 6 or God of War at a discount if you're so inclined.

About 8 hours in, made it to the kingdom building stuff in Ni No Kuni 2. AWW YEAH HERES THE GOOD STUFF. Lots of side quests now popping up, and the part of the game I expected to like a lot is going well!

I had today off, so that was obviously a factor, but I'm super into Ni No Kuni 2 now. First off, with the side quests being opened up, there are some things that are legit challenging, so that is helping with one of my complaints. Kingdom Building has a lot to it, and there are a lot of benefits, but it also isn't too time consuming or complicated. They set where you put your buildings, it's all about recruiting people, putting them in the right roles, and deciding what you want to upgrade first, it's super addictive. I'd describe it as Suikoden on steroids. And best of all, it doesn't have the vague/confusing recruiting of old Suikoden games where you 100% need a guide to find everyone.

Also, I am kind of digging the skirmishes you get into with the armies. It's a weird system, but theres a little strategy and you can do a few special moves, it just works!

Still playing Bleed 2 and End of Night on my switch (though honestly, haven't picked it up for about a week now). Bleed 2 is fun, but I'm to the point where I'm just trying to get better grades, so it can be a bit of a slog now, as if I mess up at all, I pretty much just have to restart.

For End of Nigh, I think I agree with whoever said in the last topic that it isn't that great after playing Celeste. It's got the same kind of appeals as Celeste, but the platforming is less exciting since you are... a blob. And visually it is dreary, which is for a reason, but just doesn't pull me in as much.

Once I finish Ni No Kuni, I think I'll be picking up Far Cry 5. Also interested in "A Way Out" but my wife is my only realistic option for someone who I can easily coordinate with, so I gotta wait till her schedule cools down a bit in a month.

How far do you have to be to unlock the kingdom builder in NNK2? I left off after my first skirmish. I strongly dislike the opening hours of the game and it's killing my motivation to jump back in.

It's like their solution to criticism of the first game was to just remove entire elements from the game. No difficult, no monster raising, almost no cutscenes. A lot has been said about how little voice acting there is, but that even extends to character conversations. The game doesn't take any time to establish conflict or setting. It's so bizarre.

Agreed. The opening scene is so shocking, and then I've still gotten nothing on it like 11 hours in. I want to know so much more about Roland in particular.

Even as you start Kingdom Building, they haven't really spent any time on who your main enemy is and what their motivations are. The whole rebellion thing has still barely been touched on. Combat and the kingdom stuff is the main thing giving the game life.I feel like I'm close to the point where clearer goals are established though.

The lack of cutscenes has been a bummer in several parts of the game so far. Lots of moments that would be way cooler with them.

I dunno if it's shocking so much as ridiculous. "Our game exists along a continuum of stories where children lose their parents at the beginning. How do we break free?" "...I have an idea."

And they still managed three parental deaths for a single child!

It's there, just not prevalent. They do a lot of those brief 10 second cutscenes, that then transition to just text.

I was mostly referring to THE NUKE

I want to know more about that, and Roland's backstory, etc. But it doesn't look like they are even going to touch on a flashback or anything at this point. I mean, they have to at some point, but I feel like it should have at least been touched on by now.

I thought the 3DS version looked better, too! Thats what really stings about this announcement, because I was more interested in that style over the console version. I guess its not surprising, just disappointing. Maybe the Switch will have an option to play that way? Who knows!

The other disappointing news is that the Switch is seemingly non-existent as it stands now. Thats on me, of course, but I could have swore there was SOME media by now, haha.

I think this makes me in the market for my own PS4.

I started Red Dead Redemption last night. I have had it sitting in my account for years and with the new game coming out I figured I should give it a go.

Do not like the faces. This game has bad faces. Riding the horse is a lot of fun, though. Definitely a Rockstar game, might as well be GTA: Wild West (which is not a bad thing).

The bullet time mechanic is fun but so far seems gratuitous with the super strong auto-aim.

just beat the one optional boss in bloodborne to finish my first ever base level run at a souls game, and it only took 20 hours! i can probably attribute 6 of those to just fighting the last two bosses.

I might try arms tomorrow, but it doesn't look super up my alley.

I'm like 17 hours into ni no kuni 2 now. The difficulty is a bit better now. Main story is still pretty easy, but not the total cake walk it was. Lots of challenging side stuff you can take on now that the game has opened up. Having even a tiny challenge makes combat way more fun.

Otherwise, no real change. Main story remains underwhelming, and the recruiting and kingdom building is carrying the game hardcore, as it is done really well.

I gave in and bought far cry 5 today. Got a few extra days off this week, so I'm expecting to make solid progress this week!

RDR is really good. I'm maybe 5 hours in so far and I have been totally sucked into the world. It is sparse enough not to feel overwhelming but there is still always something to do nearby. The missions have been fun and the story presented pretty well even if most of the characters in the story are goofy.

I am moving through it at a pretty steady pace so I do not think I will get tired by the end like what happens with many open world games.

RDR has a great atmosphere to it. It's just this big world that's just so comforting to be in. I don't think the side material is very good, so when I wanted a break from the story I'd go explore or do some hunting for a few hours, then come back to the main missions.

I tried the Arms demo, actually it was pretty cool! I assume there are more maps in the full game?

I wasn't expecting the other modes besides the standard fights, I got a kick out of basketball in particular. I wasn't great at the game, but I was able to hold my own and won a few matches, definitely solid pick up and play appeal. I'll probably buy it before I go on my work trip next week, seems perfect to play for 20-30 minute stretches.

Also, I have pretty much just been playing Far Cry 5. I am really digging it tbh. I loved Far Cry 3, and then Blood Dragon. When I got to 4, I think I was burnt out on the series, and didn't like it as much. Now that it's been a while, it still feels pretty fresh, even with all the other open world games out there. Gameplay is solid, great mission variety, the mix of stealth and action, upgrading your character, all executed very well imo.

Story is whatever. I enjoy the monologues, but the story could definitely use more... bite. There isn't any real social commentary, and they haven't done a great job of even explaining how this cult got to where it is. The random notes around the world do help flesh things out a bit, and there are some fun characters, but that's it.

I am totally sucked into the world though. My honeymoon was in West Yellowstone, Montana. It's basically Wyoming, but we did drive into Montana a little deeper one day, and did some horseback riding. Basically, it really captures the mountains and landscapes perfectly, and totally brings me back to that week. So from a personal standpoint, I love the setting, but I think it's cool and at least somewhat unique enough that most people will dig it.
