Dragon Ball Recut is original Dragon Ball (not Z) with edits to remove like 99% of any non-manga scenes

I watched it and quite enjoyed it. Its dual audio

I know a DBZ Kai edit to remove all filler they kept was in works but never watched it or know if its even done

Mac says to read the manga but the DB super manga came after anime doesnt cover all the story just different parts

Another is in that weird place where if you watch it as a comedy gorefest it becomes much better. Though unfortunately still interspersed with boring dialog and visuals trying to be creepy.

I have never seen Kai, but a ton of the fun in early DBZ is how ridiculous the trash talk is and how Woosley-ish at times the other dialogue is. The early dub's aversion of death is hilarious too - at one point a villain blows up a plane and, off-screen, you hear a voice going "I SEE THEIR PARACHUTES!"

69. Bleach (2004)
Zea (5/5)
http://otakukart.com/animeblog/wp-content/uploads/2016/12/Bleach_162_14-1024x750.jpg

The first of the 'Big Three' to fall, I feel like Bleach is at the bottom for most people. It does have some of the better action, but it doesn't feel nearly as creative or magical as Naruto and One Piece. Still, Bleach is a pretty solid show for a while.

Bleach starts out as one of the best shounens out there to me. The initial arc introducing you to Ichigo and Rukia has a nice mix of humor, action, and drama. Ichigo's past has interesting circumstances, and it was crazy to see how quickly they were willing to force him to confront it. Makes for a better story to have a hot-blooded teen who just gained superpowers thrown into this siuation, rather than much later when he's honed his skills a bit. Of course, you get the Soul Society arc after, and that is one of the best shounen arcs there is. It's basically non-stop action with tons of character growth. The plot doesn't move forward a whole lot, but you get introduced to so many promising characters that work as Soul Reapers. It's great how it presents them all as villains to begin with, but you see so many of them switch sides and start helping the heroes. It was pretty awesome to see the likes of Renji and Hitsugaya cross over, because they were cool as hell. Then you get to the ending with Aizen's betrayal, and everyone who isn' a piece of shit drops the fighing and begins working together. It's a very satisfying arc, and I kind of want to rewatch it.

Unfortunately, my opinion on Bleach sunk afterwards. I decided to be a dumbass and watch the Bount arc, which is notorious for being one of the worst examples of filler in shounen anime. Needless to say, it killed my interest in the world of Bleach, and I could never find the drive to stay interested in whatever else was happening. It doesn't help that the show peaks hard during Soul Society, but even when I tried reading the manga, I just couldn't get invested in it. I also know they went with Ichigo/Orihime in the end, which is simply detestable.

68. Digimon Adventure (1999)
Ange (3/4)
b1UugGL

This is yet another show that was prominent during my childhood, and thus most of my meories come from then. Digimon was always kinda lurking in Pokemon's shadow for me. Fox Kids was worse than Kids WB, the Pokemon video games were better, the show had way more content, etc. But they mostly only get compared because they're both late 90's children's anime that received commercial success in the US. Both ending in "mon" also helped. Really, they're not much alike. Pokemon is pretty much entirely episodic, but Digimon actually has plotlines that last more than one or two episodes.

The original Digimon was always pretty cool. It was darker than most of the shows I saw as a kid, exploring themes of death and revenge and all that juicy stuff Americans were scared of. It only needed some tits to hit the motherload. Interestingly enough, the human main characters were what drove the show, rather than the Digimon they trained. The Digimon always worked better as villains, and the heroic ones just felt like they were there for the cool action sequences. Tai was a fun main character, Matt was a badass, Joe was hilarious, Sora was my first ever waifu, Izzy was boring but inoffensive, TK was a little bitch, Mimi was... Mimi, and I guess there was Kari, but I don't remember much about her.

I've been meaning to go back to this show and watch it all the way through. I think the later seasons all got kind of silly. I've seen bits and pieces of a few of them, and I don't really like them. It was cool how the kids were limited to just being kids, but now they transform into Digimon or something? That kills some of the magic. I doubt I'd appreciate the show all too much if I went to it now, since I'm no rotten child, but I do think the show has more merit to it's fame than Pokemon, which I ranked higher despite such words. And the movie was actually the best part for once!

Bleach was at least excellent for a couple of arcs.

Naruto was always hot garbage, and not even weird-copy-ninja guy could save it. That's what happens when your entire main cast is so obnoxious and unlikable.

67. Elfen Lied (2004)
Johnbobb (2/3)
jv687de

So we jump from Digimon to a show infamous for it's gore and sex. Elfen Lied is one of those shows that, in the late 2000s, would be recommended to casual anime viewers. I'm not entirely sure why, since the excess of violence and nudity, sometimes out of nowhere, seems more likely to turn people off with how extreme it is. But this was the show that showed me just how disturbing the medium could be on the level of presentation and storytelling. I'd seen overt violence on the likes of Adult Swim and whatnot, but nothing to this extreme.

The story is pretty intriguing. There exists a rare race of humanoid beings with horn and invisible limbs. These creatures are incredibly powerful, thus making them subject to scientific experience. One of these beings, Lucy, manages to escape the confinements of the lab she was in, and ends up finding shelter with some random dude who I remember nothing about except he wants to bang his cousin. Of course, she has split personalities: One the sadistic sociopath, Lucy, and the other a happy-go-lucky, immature child who can't speak, Nyu.

It's weird to really pin my exact feelings on the show. When I watched it in middle school, I absolutely loved it. But when I read the manga, I was pretty annoyed that the anime ended how it did, since the show feels pretty incomplete looking back. And since I read that in high school, I haven't really thought further about it, and now I just feel like it's a show that exists and I only remember it because of how shocking it was. The story is enjoyable, but silly. The characters are enjoyable, but silly. Really, it's just a bit of dumb fun that probably takes itself too seriously, but it's fine because it's still a good time. Though I rarely see it brought up anymore. There are so many shows with the same extreme appeal being released nowadays, with far more thoughtful writing and better art direction. I feel like this show just got buried by time. It didn't have the staying power of other shows from the mid-2000s like Death Note and Code Geass. I think we're past the times of seeing this in everyone's catalog, which is a little sad considering how legendary it is.

66. High School DxD (2012)
Granzon (5/5)
95UJUVv

DxD is an ecchi romcom about a guy with a mullet who gets killed by a hot demon and is reborn as a demon himself. Basically, its what Tokyo Ghoul ripped off. Theres not really a whole lot to say about this show. Its generic battle shounen with uncensored tits, and thats the main draw. I remember watching it as part of Integrity era b8anime, and ended up being surprised at how good it actually was.

The thing that makes DxD stand out from tons of other trashy shows, to me at least, is how the writing works. It makes this epic battle of angels and demons into a complete joke where the main character becomes the strongest demon ever simply by being a piece of shit. Hes a perverted dumbass, and that is where he draws his power from. Its not meant to be taken seriously, and they are quite aware of how stupid this thing is, so they just run with it.

I recently tried to get back into the series, but its safe to say that I no longer get that much enjoyment out of it. Its degenerate, to say the least, and that appealed to me as a high-schooler/freshman in college, but now that Im a mature adult, its hard to enjoy something like this. Still, I appreciate how it functions, because I like when shows embrace cheese to ridiculous extents. But I cant, in good faith, say this show is quality. Just a lot of fun if youre into the humor it lays down.

65. Monogatari (2009)
Mac (3/5)
gtXw7aY

Oh boy, here we have a show with astronomical highs and soul-crushing lows. It's very hard for me to rank Monogatari, since the show is inconsistent to such an extreme. Looking at my list, my scores for the series range from 4 to 9 with a lot in between at varying levels. So in the end, I just have to view it as a 3/5 all things considered.

I don't really have a ton to say about the show, because I know exactly why I don't like it anymore, and despite my played up hatred for it in the anime topics (Though I've stopped doing that so much), I would never hazard calling this a bad series. See, I have always had issues focusing, basically since I was a child. It's extremely likely I have ADHD, and while I don't want to say I can't enjoy a complex story, I will say that a complex story presented almost entirely through dialogue in another language is certainly not something that will hold my attention well. I love the series' art direction, and the cast is pretty top notch on the whole, but after the rollercoaster that was Monogatari Series: Second Season, I became somewhat disengaged, and stopped caring about what was going on. It all comes down to burnout, and Monogatari crashed hard for me. I couldn't even tell you what really happened after the cliffhanger in Second Season. I just got bored.

So since I was pretty negative here, lemme just say that the series has some notably amazing JAMS. I believe every OP is an original composition, each memorable in their own way. Hell, even the ones that aren't as good tend to be fun. My favorites are Orange Mint and Ren'ai Circulation and no, I am not sorry. Also Nadeko was best girl, and I am also not sorry about that. Basically, my Monogatari opinions will always be trash, so don't read this write-up.

Monogatari really fell off for me also after Second Season. Like it's not even that the show got worse, I just stopped caring as much for one reason or another.

Could just be that I marathoned everything up through Second Season, but after that had to stop since that's all that had been made at the time. Not a very pleasing explanation though.

Monogatari is such a chaotic and varied series that I am willing to accept just about any opinions on it as probably justified. I'm still a fan of it overall but I can certainly see the perspective of someone who got burnt out.

The one opinion I see sometimes and don't understand is disrespecting Hanamonogatari. Compared to the series's tendency to overreach and overcomplicate, Hanamonogatari's execution is really superb, which is why I tend to put it a step above the rest of the series.

pretty much this

people that don't give an anime a try because someone they don't agree with happen to like that anime are the ones you should ignore
