I think that if I was 5 right now, and my parents had a good pc and a switch and several games on it, I never would have bothered, especially since I learned to read at like 3, and I've always liked reading interesting things in games.

And then I'd have more cartoons that I'd have time to watch on netflix, and I'd love it!

Most likely, I liked playing with action figures till I was like 13, plus for a few years I was kinda by myself a lot of the time outside of school because my dad wanted a cabin by the lake so we moved there and we just drove into town for school and his work.

Probably, because I've never cared that much about movies/TV, and I already played a lot of video games as a kid. The only big difference now is that we have quality new/recent games priced at $5 - $20 (indies), which would be nice on childhood me's budget. But as a child I could also take months to beat a few hour long game, so it's not like I really needed more stuff to play.

Probably. My kids still play with their toys even though we have netflix and several video game systems.

Hard to say. While in memory it seems like I played with toys for a very long time, looking back rationally and doing the math (and comparing it to the childhoods of my niece and nephew, 20 years later), I probably didn't play with toys for all that very long in the first place.

If you don't count the first 2-3 years or so when you're barely a functional human being (and "playing" with toys mostly just consists of putting oddly-shaped things in your mouth and hitting things that make noises), I probably really only played with toys for about 8 years worth of my childhood at most (and even that gets a bit iffy towards the end). By age 10 or so I had already moved on to reading books (both comic books and "real" books), playing video games, and going into the woods to beat the shit out of my friends with wooden swords (don't you judge me).

Knowing my personality as it is now, and thinking about just how much I DID play video games once those became available (and how shitty most of those games were compared to some of the stuff out now), and how a lot of my TV watching was only really limited by the sheer lack of worthwhile programming aimed at kids (the 80s weren't necessarily overflowing with content outside of Saturday mornings and the hour or so after school), I probably WOULD have started spending all of my time watching videos and playing games instead of playing with toys much, much earlier in life if the option had been there.

I played with action figures until I was like 17. I used to wait for everyone else in my house to fall asleep before I did.

I had a bunch of toys as a kid, but once we got a PC I rarely ever touched them, so probably not.

Most of my toys growing up were Lego and video games, and Lego's still fun, so I don't know that it'd really be that different.

I'd probably still play with toys. Most of my toys were farm animals and Breyer horses. Netflix I could have easily skipped. I spent most of my time outside riding bikes and horses or exploring.

I still collect toys and make toys for my grandkids. Radio control, cars, planes, helicopters, boats, slot car racers, model trains, dollhouse furniture, .

I made my first video game when I was 15, a pattern matching game for oscilloscope display in 1961, and have enjoyed videogames, hardware and software, ever since.

I like games and simulations, but real-world is better, golf, racing, boating, flying, martial arts. My kids were always active, so are my grandkids, lots of real-world activities, not much for TV-sitting.
