Finally did it and pulled the trigger (pun intended).

Bought a Smith and Wesson Shield 2.0 9mm pistol with CrimsonTrace Red Laser:

Now in the next several months, have to spend ~$50 for cleaning/maintenance supplies, $100 to join a local gun club to shoot cheaply (vs. a range membership), and another ~$75 to buy miscellaneous stuff (like a holster, concealed carry permit, etc.). I should be good for a while.

Thanks! I fired this gun (without the laser addition) at a local gun store, and it was pretty jarring. This was my first 9mm. I fired 0.22 before, and those were like peashooters; nothing to it.

Nice. I've finally decided to buy a Webley Mk VI next time I see one for sale. Then I'll just have to figure out where to get ammo for it.

MSRP is $500, and the lowest a gun store around me would go is $480, even after I showed them an online store that sells it for $340. So fuck it, I'm buying it online. It's worth the wait.

It's the same thing as Carry Guard, USCCA, CCW, etc., but is a non-profit organization, so dues are much less.

There's two major gun stores around my area; one has a firing range, and allows prospective buyers to fire "floor models" of guns for $10 (with one full magazine of rounds).

Surprisingly, I didn't buy anything from Palmetto State Armory. While their prices were the lowest, their shipping killed any deal... so I went to another online store and price matched with Palmetto.

Deguns? Yeah Palmetto's shipping kills their deals, but they usually have a free shipping deal on most of their stuff every now and again so you just have to catch it at the right time. There was only ever one really good reason I paid shipping on their site, and it was because the particular product was niche and they're the only manufacturer.
