The September 2017 study, authored by West Virginia University and Baylor University economics and information systems experts, analyzes rates of female homicides in various cities before and after Craigslist opened an erotic services section on its website. The authors found a shocking 17 percent decrease in homicides with female victims after Craigslist erotic services were introduced.

I would think people would be more worried that closing down Backpage is gonna make it more difficult for law enforcement to track down trafficked women and children. People are acting like closing down this site is somehow going to cut down on human trafficking when, in reality, those traffickers are just gonna find less visible venues to advertise their "services". And now they're getting offended about this tweet because they think it goes against this imaginary big win over human trafficking.

This is one of those topics where I dont know where my opinion lies. I think women should be able to sell themselves if they want but the argument that it will reduce human trafficking is laughable. That will still happen as long as there are evil human beings in this world. Forcing teenagers into sexual slavery and taking all their money is the appeal to those scumbags.

Legalization of sex work is important. It is primarily a women's rights issue. I don't see how people don't get this.
