It's more like if Dragon Ball Z and Sailor Moon had a badass offspring. Precure is still a magical girl franchise through and through, but it's way more focused on combat than Sailor Moon or Cardcaptor Sakura ever were. Martial arts fights (against monsters or main villains) and colorful beam attacks are a staple of the franchise.

Also, there's like 15 different Precure series, but almost all of them are self-contained and can be watched on its own without seeing any of the others.

Like I said, each series is stand-alone. They're all about 46-50 episodes in length, which is longer than the "average' anime, but still not completely unreasonable. Instead of looking at the franchise as a whole, just pick one or two of the individual series to start with and see where it goes from there.

I would suggest just watching which ones you think look the best design-wise. Except probably not Mahoutsukai and Kira Kira because that's when they temporarily decided they weren't allowed to punch and kick anymore. Heartcatch is a good starting point.

Heartcatch is where I started too, it was fantastic. Smile and Go Princess are also considered great for newcomers and among the best in the franchise. Starting at the very beginning with the original Futari Wa Pretty Cure series is another option, as is jumping into the currently-airing (10 episodes in right now) series, Hugtto. If you still can't decide, just look them all up and compare the art styles and character designs, then choose which one looks the best to you.

The 3 Precure gifs I posted in the opening post were all from Smile. The 4 in the second batch were from (in this order) Futari Wa, Heartcatch, Go Princess, and Hugtto.

Ehhhhhh it's fuzzy and poorly explained. Shaina and Marin are both Silver Saints which places them far above male bronze saints in power but there's a stupid mask requirement because of some bullshit regarding exposure to male saints.

They're socially underprivileged but everything we've seen suggests they have the potential to become as strong as any other saint.
