Sabrina Pattie from Florida took her 2 young sons to their first every hockey game over the weekend..but instead of joy, it turned into horror after she was struck by a PUCK in just 5 MINUTES of the game that caused severe facial injuries!!

They were at a Stanley Cup playoff game between Tampa Bay Lightning and the New Jersey Devils at Amalie Arena when the hard disc sailed over the protective netting and smahed into her face causing a horrifying bruise under her eye!

The freak accident occurred just 5 minutes into the game as they were just 5 rows from the ice and directly behind the net

The teacher now has a large purple bruise under her left eye and a golfball sized knot on the left side of her forehead

She said "Before i knew it, everything went black and i just felt like i got sucker punched"

Her husband, Ryan grabbed towels and covered her face to shield her from the kids..and despite the injury, it hasn't cooled her passion for hockey as she asked staff to TURN on the game at the hospital...tampa bay on 5-2.

She complained of numbness, pain and nausea but is expected to recover and hopes the sports arena will take additional precautions to protect fans

lol, safety. there is already safety, its called paying attention. I understand that the puck could be traveling over 100mph okay, but the NHL has had pucks sail all over the place at 100mph for decades. players get hit with the puck all the time.

(now of course when the ice rink's glass was actually made of glass that was unsafe :P)

The one guy that punched me twice in the face, under my right eye and my left jaw, it felt like his fists bounced off my face and he did zero damage. The look of fear in his eyes that followed was delicious.

I mean, it's possible to get them outside of fights.

I accidentally got myself with the car door one time and then another time, I woke up with one that I have no idea how I got.

The only one I got from a fight was with my Dad.

This is why I've generally been terrified of being present for things like baseball games. You'd never see that shit coming.

I've never had a shiner, but I have a big scar on the back of my head from getting a rock thrown at me. I didn't know which person of the three behind me did it, but I chased after them. Like idiots, they all ran together. One of them indicated who did it during the pursuit, he frantically apologized, but I caught him and put dirt in his mouth anyway. I had anger issues growing up.

I once cut my eyebrow with a car door. Still no black eye. I had to call in sick. I was working in a cleanroom at the time and having an open wound on my face wasn't a good idea. Thankfully, it wasn't a bleeder.
