Dr. Fetus' Castle - Has gotten into the contest a few too many times, but The Tower isn't exactly a good Nier choice. Man, listening to it again it's even weaker than I remember. Perfectly fine in context, but there's no reason for it to be in a contest.

A Scattered Moment- - ASM starts out really excellent. Wish it went further, but it's good. DSHN isn't quite one of my favorites, but it's just really solid throughout. This is a tough match where I wouldn't mind either winning.

Blue Skies (Infinity Remix) - The vocals in Blue Skies are really bad. Without them I think it'd be a pretty good song though. Deep Forest is eh. I think Rewrite had one song I quite liked, but this isn't it.

alright songs all around, had to think about what i really wanted to commit to for a long time but eh

Voting The Tower mostly for the vocals in the last minute. Dr. Fetus's Castle isn't too good so. I thought A Scattered Moment was pretty cool. It seems like both it and Don't Speak her Name both are kind of similar sorrowful+epic moods, but I think it comes across better in A Scattered Moment. So Deep Forest is kind of a pet track of mine, which is why I put it up for the side bracket. I didn't really expect it to grab people, it's just that I found it to be a great evocative atmospheric track. Apparently Mycro likes it more than I do somehow. I don't mind Blue Skies, it has some pretty good parts, the vocals kind of bother me a bit.

i've never played the game and it's my fourth or fifth favorite song in the contest, so i'd like to think that's a good enough reason for it to get a shot. not like it's a repeat offender, and after the demolition it's getting today i know not to bother with it again.

Weak day.

-First match: I can't believe I haven't found even ONE decent NieR: Automata song so far in the contest. This one's a snorefest. Is its OST really that weak compared to the first game? Dr. Fetus' Castle wins by default.

-Second match: It's kind of ironic how a song called "Don't Speak Her Name!" lasts over 7 minutes; it has kind of a romantic feel, which makes me think of it as a "Don't mention that woman... who I once loved, and then... etc.". A Scattered Moment sounds pretty as well, but Fire Emblem is once again characterized by its epic and well-rounded songs (even if they are not the most epic songs out there...), which is enough to beat it by a slim margin.

-Third match: Perhaps more interesting than the main bracket today, Blue Skies has nice vocals while Deep Forest sounds oddly, but pleasantly, aquatic... Yeah.

The overall rankings are rough today, mainly due to DSHN!'s inconsistency, but it'd be something like:

Neither song in the first match is really that great to me. Dr. Fetus' Castle is a song I've never really "gotten", and the echo-y tone of these melodies is not something I'm especially fond of. The Tower--well there's not really a lot to it honestly. It's atmospherically nice though, and I'm basically giving it the benefit of the doubt by assuming that it works better in-context.

2nd match is much better--I really like both of these songs. A Scattered moment has a really pretty piano part, and I love the way everything comes together and climaxes in the middle of the song. Don't Speak her Name is easily in my top 5-10 songs in the contest though. It's hard for me to pinpoint any individual thing because I just actually love every part of this song. I guess I like how it manages to sound both epic and heartfelt throughout, but that's not exactly a very specific statement. I learned a long time ago that I don't really like SRPG's, but there was ever a song to get me to play a Fire Emblem game anyways it would be this one.

Side match is okay I guess.

Really epic or beautiful songs. NieR is known for those two atributes ("beautiful" as in "beautiful singing/vocals/instrumentation" and whatnot).

Hmm, maybe try these? I tried to list them in order with the ones I think most likely to meet that description at the top. Also keep in my mind that on a lot of these there are Quiet / Medium / Dynamic versions which generally increase the energy behind each so depending on what you're looking for/like/don't like about one the version could come into play.

the tower, especially this version, is just entirely whatever but that's enough to beat something as poor as that meat boy song.

rude as heck second match I feel sorry for a scattered moment here (note: I actually haven't even looked at the current results so lol me if it's actually winning). either way, excellent songs.

damn that third match is also insanely good, I didn't expect a side bracket match with a great ace combat song in it in r1 to be this hard.
