Electric Kettles are cordless or plug in kettles that heats up water without the use of a stove top..but americans don't use it because it's "too slow".. You need to balance how much space you have available with how much you want that dedicated device, obviously, but otherwise there's no reason not to have a waffle iron if you want waffles, or a coffee maker if you want coffee. Some things do actually need a dedicated device (or at least are so much easier with a dedicated device that it's sensible to have one). because it's much, much quicker If you have a coil or gas cook top, yeah (that's why I use an electric kettle too).
