A few folks I know are not against legalizing marijuana. They just want some system in-place to check for/catch folks who drive while high. To my understanding, and please correct me if I'm wrong, even if one isn't under the influence at the time, it'll still be in their system for sometime later.

Wouldnt the systems we already have in place to catch people driving drunk be effective? A breathalyzer wont show someone is high but a cop would be able to observe all the signs

thing is, the amount of marijuana that technically puts everyone over the limit is a set number, but the amount that would actually make any individual truly drive impaired varies so much from person to person that roadside sobriety tests would be the only way to tell. problem with that is, marijuana doesnt impeded the same functions as alcohol so you would have to come up with a whole new test.

A field test for THC has existed for nearly forty years.

Not quite the same thing.

This, plus I'd like to note the irony of sourcing Vice for marijuana news =p

As someone who has smoked my fair share and drank my fair share, driving high is arguably more dangerous for most people (barring people who have drank way too much... they are definitely the most dangerous). High drivers are often nervous and overly anxious and cautious to the point that it's actuslly dangerous. That and people with a low tolerance are definitely susceptible to memory loss, negligence and even hallucination in rare cases. It definitely should be regulated heavily as far as driving goes.

I'm all for legalization though

Let's be real though. This will be just like every other time a federal proposal rears its head. It will be quickly shot down as always

yeah big pharma just wants to monopolize it
the police just want to search people for mundane shit
I have a feeling it will be decriminalized but made completely illegal again
or at least it will be much worse than before with this 'driving high' bullcrap

This is why I hate Democrats. Well at least it has no chance of passing.

Why is that? Im curious what about this seems negative to you

It's marijuana.

Is that supposed to be an argument against legalization?

Because it's a bad one.

Topic fail.

Decriminalizing. Big difference. They're almost definitely only doing it for brownie points knowing Trump will never let it happen. The stand-for-nothing-crats like to do this.

No point to this since it just makes the person who's high drive slower.

It's marijuana.

That's a really intelligent argument.

It's a big difference.

They aren't on your side any more than they have to be to get your vote. This one is probably just a lie.
