It looked like he could place his fastball... at least as well as a position player can locate pitches.

You'll think they're fun and then you'll watch them play a playoff game at home and the tomahawk chop will remind you that their fans are all going to hell. And not because of the racism (though that doesn't help) but because of how idiotic and obnoxious it is

Since you mentioned a funny baseball name, I was trying to find something about the baseball player Beer but I got a result about Wade Boggs drinking like 50 beers on flights. I've heard that before, but it's still insane to me and I don't know that I believe it. Even the sheer amount of liquid alone seems impossible. Allegedly he had 107 beers in one day. That's like some Andre the Giant shit, but he was 500 pounds so his stories are a little more believable

Earlier today my brothers and I were discussing Mike Matheny's playing career. It gave me an idea for my latest time wasting work project... time to rank all MLB managers by how good they were as players!!!

30. Joe Maddon, Cubs - no MLB experience and the worst minors performance
29. Brian Snitker, Bravse - no MLB experience
28. Buck Showalter, O's - no MLB experience
27. Jim Riggleman, Reds - no MLB experience but the best all minors performance
26. Jeff Banister, Rangers - 1 MLB PA, but he got a hit, so he has a 1.000 lifetime average
25. John Gibbons, Blue Jays - very few MLB PA but he did hit a dinger
24. Kevin Cash, Rays - the worst player who had an actual MLB career, a 37 OPS+
23. Ned Yost, Royals - the lowest WAR of anyone who made MLB, I only rank him this high because he hit much better than Cash
22. Mickey Callaway, Mets - a rare pitcher on this list and a really bad one
21. Andy Green, Padres - one of those utility guys who hangs on for a while for no reason, had a career .200 BA
20. Rick Renteria, White Sox - a crappy utility guy who seems to have played decent defense at least
19. Terry Francona, Indians - a very bad player who gets points for somehow playing 10 MLB seasons
18. Torey Lovullo, Diamondbacks - another utility guy who couldn't hit, but less of an embarrassment than Andy Green with the bat
17. A.J. Hinch, Astros - bad, but not horrifyingly so because he was a catcher
16. Mike Matheny, Cardinals - also bad, but he had a long career as a starter and won gold gloves so he at least had a reputation for good defense
15. Ron Gardenhire, Tigers - finally someone with positive WAR! A decent utility guy for a few years
14. Clint Hurdle, Pirates - totally forgettable 4th OF, but again he was in the positive for WAR
13. Bob Melvin, A's - a no bat catcher who was still a fine part time player
12. Bruce Bochy, Giants - see Bob Melvin
11. Scott Servais, Mariners - see Bruce Bochy
10. Alex Cora, Red Sox - weirdly memorable for a guy who didn't do much, but good defense up the middle can get you a long career
9. Gabe Kapler, Phillies - only real skill ever was being able to hit lefty pitching, but it gave him a lengthy and largely successful career as a platoon OF
8. Dave Roberts, Dodgers - another guy with only one real marketable skill, his speed, but he was also a good 4th OF for it and of course used his speed to memorable effect in the 04 ALCS
7. Aaron Boone, Yankees - like Dave Roberts, his career is distilled into one memorable playoff moment, but he had a few good years with the Reds
6. Dave Martinez, Nationals - long career as an average OF
5. Bud Black, Rockies - long career as an average P
4. Craig Counsell, Brewers - overrated because of his goofy stance and scrappiness, but great defense up the middle made him a good player for a long time
3. Mike Scioscia, Angels - league average hitter behind the dish for over a decade made him a very valuable guy for a long time, plus he was on The Simpsons
2. Don Mattingly, Marlins - a HOF caliber hitter before a steep decline but still easily ahead of everyone except for...
1. Paul Molitor, Twins - an actual HOF player.

Basically, almost every manager in MLB was a bad player. But on the plus side, that took like an hour to research so it really killed some time.

I regret to inform you that Trevor Bauer is at it again. This time he's tweeting that the Astros are doctoring pitches to increase spin rate. Anyway, I only brought it up because it reminded me of that time he pitched in the playoffs after nearly cutting off his finger with his stupid drone and was leaking like a sieve on the mound.
