I may buy one today at my job with my discount and pick up Mario Kart. Do you think that is a good investment?

Look at the catalog and figure out how many current and upcoming games you want. Decide for yourself if that list is worth it entirely as is with anything else down the line being a bonus.

Then you'll have your answer.

And I would also recommend getting a Pro Controller, especially if you intend to game on TV mostly.

$70, but it's a luxury item and not really needed unless you'll be playing a lot of local multiplayer. The joycon handle is very suitable for a normal controller.

70 or 80 I think. Alternatively you can use the joycons in the included grip so they feel more like a traditional controller. No need to splurge on the Pro just yet, the joycon grip is good to get you started.

Here are games I own for Switch and would recommend:

Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
Super Mario Odyssey
Bayonetta 1 + 2
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
Azure Striker Gunvolt 1 + 2
Kirby Star Allies
Xenoblade Chronicles 2

Picking up The Darkest Dungeon later today. Looking forward to Hyrule Warriors, Fire Emblem, Octopath Traveller, and Smash Bros down the line. Maybe Dark Souls Remastered.

Walmart also exclusively has corded controllers for $20 just like the Pro for a hell of a lot less if $70 seems high for a damned controller.

I haven't double dipped and bought BoTW for Switch yet too, but I plan to and this is why I bought this controller. I don't like the joycons when I played Mario Odyssey.

I got my pro controller new for like 50 bucks so I'd keep an eye out for discounts. The default ergonomics for the Joycons are kind of bad. Specifically, the joysticks are far too sensitive, the shoulder buttons are set up kind of weird, and the action buttons are small. Other than that the Joycons are perfectly viable.

I'd say no, for me it hasn't really been worth the investment. But I'm sure that will change with time.
The pro controller feels nice in your hands but I like just laying there with my arms hanging whichever way they may naturally fall, so the joycons are great with that.

It could use more new titles, yes, but I'm not going to complain that other titles are ported to it or remade for it. Let's folks play those games on the go or pick them up if they didn't already have them.

Especially titles that didn't see the attention they deserve because they happened to be released on the Wii U. I'd actually like to see them port other titles like Wonderful 101 to the Switch.

I have a Wii U so this is completely meaningless to me. It wouldn't be a problem if Nintendo wasn't deliberately doing it to put off the making of new shit. The Switch is the most disappointing Nintendo console I've ever owned, by far.

It's not about you.

Not that many people got Wii Us, so wanting to port games over to fill out the Switch library is a valid decision. A decision that is probably appreciated by Switch owners who skipped the Wii U.

Also, I don't think porting a game over to the Switch is a sign of Nintendo deliberately refraining from making new titles. Game development takes time and ports are relatively fast, easy, and cheap means of filling the gaps between new titles.

This is a stupid argument. As if both previous Wii U owners and Switch only owners would not be happy if new games were made.

I get the business reasons for doing it, but that doesn't mean this is good for consumers. Even a lot of the newer games are extremely out of date Steam ports of games made years and years ago. SNES never ported over NES games so hard. Neither did N64 or even GameCube. If they take time, then get started earlier.

The "they should make new games instead of porting old ones" argument will always be so silly. Do people legit think it takes as much effort to port a game compared to developing one from scratch?

They're either outsourced to different teams who don't make new games or they're used as a way for developers to get used to new hardware.

Its definitely worth buying one now that its jailbroken and people are already running dolphin on it. Only a matter of time before you can have all Nintendo games on it from all platforms. Best part is its a hardware exploit that can never be patched out on existing models so buy it while you still can.

You're not the only one who owns a Switch. When the Wii U had such a low install base, its largely beneficial to a great many Switch owners to port over games like Bayonetta 2, Mario Kart 8, and Donkey Kong: Tropical Freeze.

Porting good games over to a console with a greater audience is a good thing for consumers because it gives them the opportunity to play games they wouldn't otherwise have had. Or wouldn't have had on a portable platform.

I'm sure everyone would be happy to see new games made. And new games are being made. Bringing over quick ports and remasters doesn't detract much from that in a significant way. It is presumptuous to assume that they would dedicate their resources to developing more new games if they didn't bring out the ports.

Why the f*** is it my problem that someone didn't buy a Wii U? And I wasn't informed that the Switch would simply be a remake of the Wii U or I probably wouldn't have bought it. It is presumptuous to think Nintendo isn't carrying itself on these ports for way too long. Imagine without the ports, what would we have on the Switch after over a year? Barely anything. They are maintaining this illusion that they are producing software through these ports. This isn't something Nintendo ever did in the past. They had games ready to go.

It sounds like the best thing you could do is sell your Switch if you're this upset.

Wow. You seem to be remarkably self-centered. You are taking this way too personally.

I've already said they're using the ports as an affordable method to fill out the Switch library while they develop new titles and that this is good for all the consumers that didn't own Wii Us.

Yeah, if they didn't put out the ports there probably would fewer games on Switch, because developing new games takes time. That is one of my points. Which is why the ports are a good decision when they don't meaningfully detract from the development of new titles. Those of us who did have Wii Us lose nothing and those who didn't gain access to titles they didn't play on the previous console.

I bought a screen protector from Amazon don't remember which one specifically but it did come with 2 of them.

For the case I got a basic one at Walmart fits the switch with the joycons attached along with so e wires and games only.

I have 2 pro controllers and the joycons that came with it but I use it for 4 people I just split the joycon. If you plan on playing with more people go for it.

Buy Zelsa and Odessy next. Afterwards buy Xenoblade 2. Either get FE Warriors or Hyrule Warriors. Get Mario Rabbids. Pass on the new Kirby wait for it to go on sale not worth the full price

I think now is an okay time to get it, if you keep in mind it might sell out again when Smash drops. So getting it a little early can be smart. In June/July we have Octopath and Ys8, eventually we'll have Fire Emblem and Dragon Quest Builders 2; first one too, soon even I think, if you havent played it yet.
