Share a highschool story. A descriptive one. You will the more you start thinking about the details you can't recall actually being in highschool. Sure you have a highschool diploma, but you can't remember actually attending highschool for 3-4 years.

... what is wrong with you?

I can remember sex, suspensions, locations of my lockers, game winning basketball shots, all kinds of sports games and practices, skipping class, who most of my teachers were and in what years, names of hall monitors, can draw nearly the entire layout of the school, etc.

I went to a 1600 student school, biggest classification in my state, and graduated 8 years ago.

How can you not remember anything lol

One time during a mandatory assembly I told the vice principal mr m. that I got migraines and could not medically attend such a large and noisy gathering, so I went to the cafeteria and took a nap. I was in the library, they kicked me out, I sat on the left side 3rd tble to the back, but moved to the second column from the middle towards the back where I could lay and lay down better. I believe it was a tuesday, but I am not sure about that.

I remember pep rallies being as mandatory as a fascist military state requiring its citizens to show up to witness whatever show the people in charge were putting on. I remember on, at least one occasion, skipping the pep rally by going to one of my teachers' rooms and asking if they needed any help grading mass piles of multiple choice exams, since the pep rallies also burdened those teachers for their much needed time.

So I got out of an undesirable event full of loud noises and rampant stupidity, and traded it for the quiet opportunity to help someone out that I respected.

I remember freaking people out with my evil laugh that I used to have at the time, and openings sometimes forming in a number of crowds when I laughed.

I remember showing up early one morning, in a school already made with so much brick and concrete, and seeing half of the campus cordoned off by barred gates. Yes, this was a public high school. No, I am not kidding.

I remember entering one of the art classrooms for the first time and having a small laugh because, inside of the door, there was a painting of the Simpsons' comic book guy with the speech bubble "Worst door ever."

I remember there being two lunch periods, to break up the school's population so not everyone was flooding the halls all at once; convenient for the school staff but often inconvenient or "tragic" for the many cliques on campus.

Additionally, I remember this one corner just past a stairway barely anyone used, which was totally without witnesses during one of the two lunch periods. No camera pointed that way either. If you were smart and aware enough of that corner then that was the spot to go for making out.

I remember a friend of mine--one of my girlfriends back then, even--trying to pour glitter on me as a joke, and I smacked the vile so hard it exploded. The cloud of glitter consumed one of the courtyard quads, covering even a few bystanders who were a few hundred feet away. It took me, and other folks present, a while to get that glitter all removed.

No, tc, you're wrong. Plenty of us do have solid memories of our time in high school, even if it was 15+ years ago.

This actually touches on a legitimate concept of psychology, but like most armchair pop culture psych, it completely misses the premise and winds up being entirely wrong in pretty much every way.

I remember every single one of those things, and it's been 23 years since high school for me.

In fact, while reading this topic, I just visually mapped out the entire floor plan of my high school in my head, placing where all of my classrooms were, where the gym was, where the cafeteria was, etc - so much so that, if you were to go there with me now, I could easily give you a tour of my entire high school existence. And probably offer at least one anecdote for every class (like the time we wired up someone's metal stool in Electronics class to shock them, or how I used to skip out of lunch to hang out in the computer lab and play Wolfenstein 3D).

Teacher names are easy - I can name every teacher I ever had all the way back to kindergarten.

If anything, remembering the remote past isn't as hard as remembering what I did last week. That's the bane of old age you all have to look forward to - remembering what day was taco day back in 3rd grade, but not remembering what you had for lunch yesterday.

I even remember my high school locked number combination and who I shared it with. The reason I remember is because in the 9th grade I had locker # 93, after that it was locker 183. The combination was 1-18-11. The reason I remember it was not only I had it for 3 years but I kept forgetting the combination and I kept having to go the office and ask the Secretary, Mrs. Goins, what it was. She got to the point she would start writing it out when she saw me coming. I remember some very specific incidents all the way down to words spoken.

1. Accidentally running nine laps in the 3,200 long distance event because I mistakenly thought the judge was pointing at me when he was pointing at the guy behind me who I overlapped.
2. Playing poker cards and Magic the Gathering with my friends almost everyday during lunch.
3. Playing chess with said friends during our Chess Club meeting day.
4. Playing Starcraft every Friday night with my friends.
5. Taking the various Honors and AP classes with the same group of high school friends/acquaintances.
6. Carrying a bloody 25 lb backpack because of all the Honors and AP classes books.
7. Somehow plucking my violin louder than the cellos in orchestra and everyone giving me odd looks.

*Warning, this story is disgusting.

I remembered one cross country practice where nature called about one mile out from school. I held it as long as I could and didn't try to end my the practice early to run to the restroom. About maybe half a mile to the end of the run I ended up just going. A few fellow runners saw me and asked if I was okay. Said I was fine and awkwardly jogged the last half mile to the end before going to the restroom. I left my undergarments in the porta potty, cleaned up as best I could, and just went commando for the rest of the day.

What made it more awkward and worse was that I had orchestra practice afterwards. I spent the next hour or so sitting there uncomfortable playing my violin. If anyone noticed any odd smell, they did't comment on it.

It was 6 hours a day, with 6 classes out of 7 each day, and several hours of homework each day, per class. And never did anything after classes at school. Never went to a dance, or the prom, or nothing, since all the girls I asked out there rejected me as well. And 5 minutes between each class to get to the next one. And I hated "third lunch", since all the tables still had trays on them, since most kids there did not throw their trash away. On top of me always eating alone. And that is not counting the false fire alarms that occurred at least once a week, where the idiot who pulled it got arrested, disrupting class.

Nothing but bad memories.

I technically never went to high school, but I sure remember 7th grade vividly. Especially the day some jerks either killed or found a dead bird and threw it at me from behind and it got tangled in my hair.
