Episode three done.




This was neat direction. Also these two are my favorites so far.

Some interesting ruminations I'll spoiler:

So Tokyo is gone, according to last ep, and I'd understand why the island was hiding from the damage/Festum. But why avoid the U.N.? Did the rest of humanity give in to the Festum?

Also episode three and Mark Elf is already flying. Kinda mind-blowing considering something like Lindwurm took half the series to show up back in 0079. Though it looks a ton better than the godawful G-Armor.

Anyway, so far so good. I love the launching/battle theme. Brass section is the key for hyping a fight.

lol you gotta watch more than one episode a day bruh. The first few episodes are an absolute bore and after a few good episodes goes back to being a bore until like episode 16.

A couple more thoughts of Kakegurui live-action. Spoilers for the Sumeragi game if you haven't checked out the series yet.

First off, I like how Sumeragi looks:


When she explains how she cheated for the card-matching game, it freezes and she goes into a monologue and walks around the location followed by a spotlight. It happened for Mary's game as well, so I'm guessing all of them will do it that way.


What I realised was that this seems to be done much like a stage play, what with all the dramatic exposition and many times where characters, but especially Suzui, speak directly to the audience.

The eye effects are kinda cheesy



Completely unrelated to anything but seeing the school uniforms live-action makes me realise just how much I like that shade of red.

Sumeragi's one of the few likable girls in the series, especially in the 2nd season worth of materials. So I'm glad the live action did her justice. But god those eye effects are fucking goofy

Oh shit I recognize a couple actors from this from Kamen Rider.

For example Itsuki Sumeragi is played by Ruka Matsuda who played Poppy Pipopapo in Kamen Rider Ex-Aid:

The show gets really awesome from episode 15. 15 is where Kazuki gets Mark Sein and that nice ending, and all the talk he has with Tsubaki I think. Also Proof by angela as the ending song for the episode. Very cool and very emotional episode. I cried.

Ah, I've known the gist of it but never looked it up in detail.
I guess it's bound to happen sooner or later to this kind of community project, being open to any contributor and all.

Pretty sure a similar thing (but smaller in scale) happened to some Baka-Tsuki translators, where their translations got edited excessively by people who probably didn't know what they were doing.

Holy shit hat in time had one of the most disturbing "horror" sequence I've seen lately, easily trouncing some dedicated horror games. This is a great game thematically. Only main complaint is that the controls are a bit wonky.

I still don't get why they changed it to "Okay" in the dub when he literally says "Good" in the JP.

Think I figured this out. I was talking about this the other day, and a pal of mine brought up that it probably has to do with the lip syncing. Thanks to Engrish, D'Arby's "Good" is turned into "Good-do" and if you watch his mouth, its animated with the two syllables. Meaning, in English, good is one syllable, and doesn't match quite right. Okay is a two syllable word and matches closer to the lip animation.

I still can't get over how cute this scene was. Yukari Tamura's voice is music to my ears, even in total deadpan mode.

Agreed, and I'll even go a step further: I hope she becomes a Precure herself later on. Not just for how great a character she is, but for the delicious irony of Nanoha's VA voicing a character who ends up on the receiving end of a thorough befriending for once.

So I picked up a baseball anime called One Outs. Not the kind of thing I usually watch, as I'm not a real big sports guy. But after 3 episodes I'm hooked. They mixed in one of my favorite anime genres, Gambling. Premise is, we have this pitcher. He isn't the fastest thrower or anything like that. But he uses mind games to play with the batters head. A pro scouts him, and brings him in, but the owner thinks he's garbage and doesn't really want him. So they negotiate a strange contract. For every out he gets, they pay him 5 million yen. But for every run he gives, he pays the owner 50 million yen. The odds aren't in his favor at all.

I dig this premise, I'm a sucker for gambling stuff, and I greatly enjoyed the first few episodes.

I've heard of it. That's a show I've had on my radar for a while, but more for the baseball aspect than the gambling aspect. Still, it's an interesting twist on the genre, and I'll probably watch it at some point... someday... eventually... anyways, Gurazeni is another baseball anime that focuses more on the financial side of the sport than the game itself, but it's a lot more light-hearted and less serious than One Outs. I've been watching it this season (it's currently airing) and it's been pretty entertaining so far.

One Outs is pretty good. Im not really too into baseball (I do watch it from time to time during the playoffs and I know all the rules, etc) but it was right up my alley in terms of tone/basic premise etc

If you like gambling anime you should check out Kaiji if you havent. Thats probably my favorite anime, bar none.

That's kind of how I am with Baseball. I watch a game every now and again, been to a few games, but I'm not too terribly into it.

And hell yeah, Kaiji is the king of Gambling Anime. As far as gambling goes, I dunno if it can be topped. Still gotta get around to Season 2 of that.
