Mets lost the game though because Callaway is a fucking moron who pinch hit for Syndergaard with Jose Reyes; Syndergaard is like 10x the hitter reyes is. Syndergaard was at 77 PITCHES THROUGH 6 INNINGS. So game went to extras and mets lost because Callaway put in AJ Ramos in the 10th, who prompty threw 9 pitches - 8 of them nowhere near the strike zone. Game over.

Callaway mismanged the shit out of this game between the horrific bullpen management and the no doubles defense in the 10th there

Also Bruce is an awful defensive player and he should've had that catch easy.

Credit due though for getting to Knebel, our "official" closer, though we've been somewhat unorthodox at closing games this year. Though our real crown jewels in the pen are Hader and Jeffress. Nobody can score on those guys right now. Albers and Jennings make for very capable relief as well.

Looking forward to seeing how the rest of this series pans out. Brewers just made a slew of roster moves including sending down Arcia and replacing backup catcher. I like the accountability with Arcia. A great defensive shortstop and clubhouse presence, but he was just having a rough go at the plate and needs some time in the minors to figure that out.

That is exactly what I love about our manager, Craig Counsell. He has thrown the book out on typical bullpen management. Multi-inning saves from multiple pitchers? Actually pull a guy instead of leaving him out there to lose the game? He's not perfect, but he's been as close to common-sense management as I've seen out of a Brewers manager. The same goes for our GM. Cutting ties with streaky players who have been known to have long hitting droughts. Not afraid to send down poor performers. It's been fun watching them so far.

Man.... Jacob deGrom is just fucking unreal.

In TWO Situations today with the game of the line, works out of RISP 0 out jams... batter now like 0 for last 30 with RISP vs him. By far the gutsiest pitcher in baseball, and the ERA leader this year.... and on top of all that, this was after an hour rain delay that was forced longer by the Braves in order to try to get him out of the game even though NOT A SINGLE DROP OF RAIN FELL DURING THE ENTIRE RAIN DELAY.

(Seriously the whole rain delay was a complete bullshit fabrication that MLB needs to take a close look at and deal with)

But deGrom is such a fucking master it didn't matter. Guy is a fucking pro, pitches his ass off, and can get out of any fucking jam ever.

Too bad the Mets will inevitably blow this game for him, but what the fucking goddamn best he is. Easy early frontrunner for Cy Young.
