Angelos is def the 2nd worst owner in baseball and top 5 in sports yeah for sure.

This is similar to the wilpons spending a buttload on David Wright whose contract is insured so they only have to pay him like $5 million (insurance pays the other $20 million if he plays like 80 games or less each year) yet when calculating and announcing their budget they act as if that full 25 million counts against their full budget. They include the 25M instead of the 5M to justify not spending more. So they'll splurge on someone and lie about it to justify not spending.

Also in that report I posted you'll see that the rest of the mets front office LITERALLY DOES NOT KNOW WHAT THE BUDGET IS. The wilpons don't tell them because they make it up as they go along and the front office has to operate blindly knowing it's low but not how low it is while constantly having the wilpons being No Men to everyone they want to sign anyway.

They were all set to sign Jason kipnis in the offseason and wilpons nixed the deal after it was in place at the last minute cuz it was over their invisible budget. (I mean thatvwound up working out cuz he's been awful but that's besides the point)

DeGrom for Florial, Frazier, Wade, Sheffield seems like it'd be fairly reasonable. Maybe throw in Andujar as well if that's not quite enough?

Drury's ceiling as a hitter is probably about what Andujar is. Don't forget he's been a career .280 hitter while dealing with blurred vision and migraines. And even if he's slightly worse you could easily make the argument that his defense more than makes up for it, especially considering all the other batting talent they've got.

I don't know if Andujar, Frazier, Florial and Sheff is enough for deGrom, but I have a hard time believing the Yankees wouldn't do it at this point with Monty getting TJS, CC being old, and Gray being inconsistent at best. They're not going to hug prospects when it might mean the difference in a World Series. Florial is the highest ceiling guy in that group and he's got a good bit of bust potential anyway.
