I think it's by far the worst God of War game but even as a game it's obviously above average but not even an 8 outta ten. I don't know whats wrong just can't get into the combat and the story is trying to hard to be serious.

Like the old faster pace more comical God of War more.

Just different tastes, makes sense that you didnt like it if you liked the old style. Its not really a god of war game.

Also sell it fast as these games tend to end up being $5-$10 games in a year or less.

No, just no. Lord of Shadows is not a standard for the Castlevania series. Lord of Shadows was more like DMC and God of War, because someone thought that would be a good idea...

I played half of GoW 1 and I forget why I stopped but I couldn't get back into it, I've never played more than 30 minutes of any other games in the series. I don't like them much

I beat the first two on PS2 and fucking loved them. Never had a PS3 so I didnt play the third one until I got it on ps4 and for some reason it just wasnt interesting to me anymore.

I do wanna play this new one though. Im trying to decide between buying gow that I havent played once or buying far cry 5 that I rented on red box and really liked

That's because it is a kinda serious story. As for the combat it gets better the more you play. I admit at first it felt meh on that front. Later though a lot better.

Not everyone will like every game and it's fine having a preference. I enjoyed the first series and enjoy where the new one is heading. Still saying this game is below average for a game is just wrong.

Only it isn't that much different. Camera is closer, the combat a little slower and the game is more open from the top of my head.

the first plan for god of war was to have three gods, one for egypt, greece and the norse, then at the end of the game they would kill all the other Gods and become the 3 kings

Sold mine the next day after playing 8 hours or so, lost about 7$ total...so not horrid. Would have been better off renting from redbox, but didn't know that in advance. Net diff of $5 compared to if I had rented it from redbox and it's only that much because I had someone come to my home and pick it up.

I really love the Norse mythology setting but I don't think the over the shoulder angle, but I loved the previous games and how they felt like DMC games but more Western. I also really hate the main character who always has a tag-along child character trend that the last of Us seems to really have kicked off.

The combat takes a little bit to click but eventually it ends up being really fun and satisfying. I was playing on the 2nd highest difficulty from the beginning and I died about 10 times on the very first enemy encounter. By the end of the game you have so many abilities that honestly the combat ends up being a little too easy.

Not to spoil anything, but there's a point in the game which makes it feel much more similar to previous entries in the series.

i had the same feeling with mario odyessy. it's not my mario game. Great controls through.

God of war feels more like uncharted meets god of war. It's still god of war but it feels like in an uncharted world. why am i searching for useless trinkets... oh yes to sell to the vendor to get better gear. I really love this God of War.

also even with having to pan around, keep the enemies in your field of view
they usually make sound effects before attacking so you can always side step and change direction

this game is very fun on hard
I don't think a over head view is good for this games narrative and if anything is more of an arcade thing for multiplayer

I've only played the first God of War, and I liked it, but it felt pretty shallow to me (possibly because I had just beaten DMC3 when I played it).
