Tonight on the Discovery Channel (and re-played next Wednesday on the Science Channel) the main-event features a pair of top performers from the previous two seasons who both had their tournament hopes crushed by the mighty Tombstone, as 2015 quarter-finalist Witch Doctor takes on 2016 semi-finalist Yeti. Also on the card this week is the team that upset Witch Doctor in the last tournament, Red Devil, and three unique international robots coming to the US to cause some metal mayhem.

Petunia may have a silly name and a brightly-colored robot, but that crusher just got it a surprisingly dominant win. It was like watching the legendary Razer come back from the dead wearing a dress.

Yeah, Icewave's spinner is that insanely powerful.

Anyways, the two fights after Petunia's win were both pretty mediocre, but the main event was better. Yeti went berserker mode and beat the hell out of Witch Doctor.

Most vertical crusher robots end up looking like that because the crusher resembles a beak. But just because the bot looks awkward doesn't mean it can't do some damage. One of the greatest bots in the history of the sport used a similar weapon and pecked its way to a UK championship and two World championships.

Yeah, Razer was a monster. That is until spinning blades and discs became the dominant force. Speaking of which, I've not watched very much of the new series, have they figured out a decent counter to spinners yet, or do decently built ones still wipe the floor with literally everything?

Speaking of which, I've not watched very much of the new series, have they figured out a decent counter to spinners yet, or do decently built ones still wipe the floor with literally everything?

There are a few spinner-killer wedges like Duck (watch the 3-way rumble that Duck was in from last episode) and other robots are trying to armor up more to survive the hits (such as Witch Doctor losing its minibot Shaman and using the extra weight for more armor) but I'd say that spinners are still the most dominant force. It takes some creativity to beat a spinner without one of your own (like how Bite Force won the first season by beating the mighty Tombstone) but it's not impossible.
