Trigger's one of the best anime studios. None of the other studios are making as much quality original animes as they are, let alone do a good job at that. Little Witch, Gurren Lagaan (I guess technically not them but you get the point), Space Patrol Luluco, and Darling in the Franxx are all pretty damn good. Little Witch and Gurren Lagaan are personally in my top 10 animes ever.

Obviously they don't always hit gold. I'm not the biggest fan of Kill La Kill, and a lot of their shows follow really similar plot progression. They're also weirdly averse to relationships being fulfilled.

Darling in the Franxx gets a lot of hate for its sexuality, the core theme that the entire series so far has revolved around. For people who don't care about themes being explored in a meaningful way, as in people who grew up in a different and more technologically advanced world try to deal with the primal feelings that we find primitive, I can see that they won't fully be able to appreciate it. But my advice to people who don't care for exploration and deeper conversations, it's wiser to say you simply couldn't engage in the topic that the anime explores rather than comment on the anime itself. Those are two very different things

It's a sort of an Adam/Eve dynamic with a lot of them. They have a worldly understanding of infants because they were never taught these things, but contrary to most of the other children who seem emotionless and free from attraction, the main group of kids are allowed to explore relationships. But of course, due to their general lack of basic knowledge of human relations, they frequently fuck it up or get rejected or misunderstand, much like how we as kids may have experienced growing up. Though it's implied that what we would have experienced as grade schoolers, they're experiencing as near adults. Imo, one flaw of this series in particular may be that we aren't made aware of their lack of a wide variety of common senses early on, so we end up projecting our own sensibilities onto people who grew up in a widely different society. I know they wanted to just make the series explosive off the start to sell people to the series, but it created a very wrong impression instead.

But yeah it's also kinda sad people are averse to damn good world building. I guess it's easier for people to consume things if it's as close to reality as possible cuz it just requires less thought and involvement

But that's the thing. Being boring is a problem. When I can watch seven consecutive episodes of a show and only one single scene in one single episode manages to entertain me or even keep my attention, that's terrible. You can tell me it's for world building, or to show that characters are flawed, or to enhance the psychological themes of the show, or whatever. Any way you want to spin it, it doesn't matter. If I'm not finding a show even slightly entertaining, it's not a good show in my eyes.

If nothing happens to make me look forward to the next episode, or even worse, something happens to make me actively dread when I watch the next episode, it's not a good show. That's not enjoyable to me. That's frustrating. That's painful. And that's exactly what Darling In The Franxx became in this second cour. Even if it weren't for the gory scene this week, my mindset of "it's so close to the end, I may as well stick with it" could only give this show so much leeway before I eventually break.

What you're saying is basically that people like me, who didn't "appreciate the world building", aren't intelligent and open-minded enough to appreciate the show, and that's bullshit. World building is fine. Engaging in deep psychological themes like that is fine. But when a show isn't interesting or entertaining, all the world building and psychological themes in the fucking world can't turn it into a good show. Don't insult my intelligence by using that shit as an excuse to explain why I didn't enjoy it.

If memory serves, Spidey really liked Chapter 4 of Umineko, and that one was pretty much a ton of world building. I personally think 4 was a bit on the boring side and Umineko's weakest story.

None of that has any bearing on why I dislike the show so much now. Through the first 12 episodes, I agree with you that it did a good job at building the characters and the world around them, and the show was entertaining as well. The fights were fun to watch, and the character interactions and humor on the side was fun too. But everything that I enjoyed about the first cour has completely vanished from the second, with the exception of the reunion scene in episode 15, and it's now an empty shell of its former self.

Like I said before, you can have all of the world building any psychological themes you want, but if there's nothing else to keep the viewer's interest, it all goes to waste. That's what happened with Darling in the second half of the series. It lost what actually made the show entertaining in the first place, and now it's just an empty shell.

That's the way I see it.

It's just a general feels thing. I just see your comments every now and then, and it's a feeling I get. I'm just trying to have a conversation about what worked in, say, Darling in the Franxx, and I find myself just being dismissed of all my points and seeing a bunch of blanket comments from you instead.

Obviously it's an exaggeration to say a person can't ever enjoy world building. You enjoy a series with a grand universe, you've enjoyed it at one point in your life. But the thing is, there's appreciation and there's preference. They're actually two very different things. When I talked about Darling, I talked about what I liked about it AND what I didn't like about it. That's a part of discussing something like an actual civilized person. My preference is with Darling, and my appreciation is with Darling.

Conversely, a theoretical person would say Darling paints a great dystopian future with a lot of mystery and intrigue as to how that world came to be, but like Pop says, maybe this person didn't like how the series approached it due to too much illogical sexuality, which ends up fitting the series in the grand scheme of things. This person's preference isn't with Darling, but his appreciation is with Darling. We can talk about how Darling creates a great world, whether or not the person likes the series or not

If you aren't for either, then just point it out. Say like I wasn't convinced by this aspect or that aspect and just try to talk about it, and I can try to bring up counterpoint that might change your viewpoint on the appreciation of the series, and if we don't agree, that's that.

You can critique stuff you don't like with people who really likes a certain something without just saying something's shit in its entirety and just ending the conversation. Doing otherwise is just not fruitful, and in my case it paints a picture of you incapable of appreciating basic things

And I guess they only drop from the boss or an S Rank Clear. Loading Screen says they don't need to come from the boss, so there is some conflicting information.

They also have a higher drop rate on the emergency version. But it's still really low.

You're telling me. The collector in me is forcing me on these limited drops. I've gotten Glock 17 and now CZ, but there are still more. Although I don't care the design of 2-6's Limited, so there's no rush for her. Haven't checked the 4-6 drop yet, so I dunno if I'm just gonna start running that one next or not.

To be honest this applies really well to this game, sure a x5 5* will outclass anything, but consider that for the x5 link you need either 3 dupes of the same unit, or an insane amount of cores...

Meanwhile a 2* you can 5x quite easily and it will outclass a x3 5*

There's a statement from the MyAnimeList staff about the account freeze and password reset situation that began a couple of days ago. To summarize:

- The vulnerability that caused the situation is something that MAL's own staff can't directly deal with, and it's up to DeNA, the company that owns the site, to fix it. They're actively working on fixing the vulnerability, and until then, all 3rd-party MAL apps are non-functioning. The wording in the message suggests that no actual account data was leaked, hacked, or otherwise compromised from MAL's own site, but every account on the site was frozen as a precautionary measure.

- Even accounts made using now inaccessible e-mail addresses can still be recovered by contacting DeNA's customer support, or by contacting a MAL moderator on IRC/Discord. They provide links to these things in the post I linked to above. @FL81 and @Tropicalwood you guys can try this before you go making a new account.

- The MAL mod team hates this too. They're disappointed in DeNA for not handling the problem in a more timely manner, and they're just as frustrated about the account freezes and 3rd-party app troubles as us end users are. Please don't be mad at the site itself or any of the 3rd-party app developers for the trouble.

Really getting tired of FEH's rates. I know other gachas have worse rates, but that's like saying losing a leg is worse than losing an arm, we're all still losing something one way or another. That's also not to mention just how expendable units are in general in this game. You might roll a 5* to literally get a single skill onto some dude or get a 5* and still need like 10 other copies of the same 5* for one Rank 20 viable unit. And even worse, you gotta just keep on rolling or some new boss with bs mechanics or dumb map layouts will make it so you can't win.

The nice thing about Girls Frontline is you aren't stuck on relying on the Slots for your Raifus. Most of them can be obtained by running certain maps. It's nice. Not like Fire Emblem where I can dump hundreds of orbs into the damn thing and not get anything I wanted.
