It's kinda weird how the people who recently argued that there can be consequences for your speech under freedom of speech are now really upset at their own logic being applied here. This isn't even as vitriolic or as dangerous as violent riots and protests when Ben Shapiro or other conservatives want to speak at a college campus.
And what happened to not fear mongering or being melodramatic about how minute the impact of those college campus riots were? Yet now I see some people fearmongering and being melodramatic about how prospective employers in the future would require them to pledge allegiance to the flag every morning because of this. ... While a business such as the NFL is well within their rights to dictate how their employees act while on the clock, my concern is that this sets a worrying precedent for what an employer demands in the name of patriotism. Is it truly being done for the benefit of the nation, or is it just a means for the employer to tighten their grip on the worker? To be fair, this is a very unique situation, implemented around an idea that started due to drumming up military enlistment, evolved into tradition, became "company code", and then was challenged around recent controversy, and sports are by far the majority business that would even think of setting up this kind of requirement in this day and age. --- CyricZ ...
