I mean, if you like it, that's cool but I can't see nothing but trash. I'm gonna beat it just to say I beat it but I literally have to use a FAQ. If you have to use an FAQ to beat it, that's an issue. Typos aside, there's no indication where to go.

And why no map. Even freaking Zelda had a map, albeit an archaic one. This game is the kind of game that demands a map and yet, nope, better hope your memory is top notch.

I mean, I can appreciate what it did for the genre. I mean, it WAS revolutionary. As far as I know, it is the father of the stealth action genre. I can't think of any game that did it first but other than innovate future games in the genre, the game itself is lackluster.

So why is it considered a classic?

Aside from a few comically obtuse puzzle solutions, metal gear is really not that difficult a game

I should admit that, and I feel stupid for this, I'm surprised it has bosses. The first boss had a stupid name but he was simple. I'm hoping this aspect keeps things fresh at least.

I also didn't admit there is a lot of bullshit in the game. Those random holes are the epitome of fuck this game

If you're talking about the NES game, it literally came with a map in addition to the instruction manual.

Oh. I didn't know that. That would be nice lol. I was on the message board and I hear there is a place near end game where you got to hit random walls and stuff. I hear it gets much more obscure in the future.

The NES game

Stop playing immediately.

Even Kojima hates the NES game. Kojima didn't even make it. Play the msx version or don't play at all.

I guess I'm a masochist. I just want to beat it say I did it. I mean, I beat silver surfer(which is a lot easier if a game than I was led on to believe). I dunno why.

adding to this, the MSX version is on the fancy version of MGS3 so definitely play that instead

Also play MG1, MG2, MGS1, and MGS2 and realize you just played the same game 4 times in a row

Metal gear is pretty shit. Metal Gear 2 is good, however.

The best top-down metal gear is Ghost Babel on GBC.

Don't play the NES version. They changed and removed so much stuff it's practically a different game. The MSX version is much better.

Umm, Metal Gear for the NES is generally considered to be a pretty garbage game. I can't remember ever seeing anyone refer to it as a classic.

I've played all the solid games. Loved those. Thought I'd go to the start. Was disappointed. Like, those keycards are horse shit. Like, why not keycards red, blue, green and color code the door. Nah, because fuck it, right? Let's go through a menu that makes no since to navigate through and constantly changes the rules to use it but gotta go through each one on each door and hope I got it. It's annoying

To be fair, the NES version was a one of a kind game on that system when it was released and highly sought after. It just hasn't aged well, and if you have access to the MSX version there's no reason to play it outside of curiosity to see the differences.

MG2 is much closer to MGS and still a great game today, IMO. It's worth playing through MG1 first though.

However I was thinking, you know, easier than that.

oh i c, but ironically that ps3 bundle is the one i have. But i think it tried a little of it and thought it was terrible.
