Spoilers obviously

So after Harry and Ron take out the troll and the professors come, Hermiones all like Yo profs. I was taking a shit when the warning for the troll came and Rom and Harry came to tell me. I wasnt being a haughty bitch who thought I could handle a troll by myself, because why would I even conceivably think that when I can tell the truth and not get into trouble.

Seriously, what was the point in her lying. She was literally caught off guard. And crying in the bathroom.

Also Moaning Myrtle didnt warn me about shit even though shes... loudly moaning in the next stall over. Makes it hard to hear when a 1 ton creature is sauntering over to bat my head clean off my body.

tbh, one of these days I'll have to rewatch those movies. Never saw the remaining ones so maybe I'll just watch all 8 over a long weekend or something.

Moaning Myrtle was in a different washroom.

She lied because if Harry and Ron admitted they went off to take on the troll without telling anyone, they would have been in serious trouble. Hermione claimed it was her idea since she wouldn't get in as much trouble, as she was a model student.

Jesus! I forgot how scummy Dumbledore was during the final points ceremony.

Can you IMAGINE being a Slytherin, walking into the cafeteria and seeing your banner hung up on the walls because godDAMMIT you might be pieces of shit, but you mostly earned those points fair and square! But then Dumbledore is a Gryffindor, and just gives his house like 300 points so they jump from dead last to 1st.

Daniel Radcliffe had a successful stint on broadway and has had a few good roles.

Ron was in Thunderpants which is a far superior movie to anything Emma Watson has been in.

The magic though is kind of badly explained. There isnt even an explanation of how it works. They just flick their wrists say a word or two and they can do basically anything at seemingly no cost. Thats not very deep fantasy. Theres also social hierarchy in a world where magic has no cost and spells dont seem to require much skill to cast. Doesnt really make much sense. I would say its light fantasy.

Most of which was written after the main story, or at least in parallel with later books. A lot of extra worldbuilding and whatnot has happened, yes, but it wasn't written at the time of the first book, which results in a lot of things that end up being pretty shallow and poorly-explained. That's not overly surprising, really; I don't think anyone was expecting it to become popular enough for people to want the universe expanded.

I mean they introduced time travel so simple that a young girl was allowed to use it and then it never comes up again anywhere in the story, rather than the whole world revolving around the concept of precrime and how many muggles lives could be saved through it

It doesn't help that the author's attitude towards most of it is basically "Ehh, sure, why the fuck not."

She doesn't take the setting or story all that seriously, and is more than willing to pander to whatever insane ideas the fanbase has or improv details off the top of her head to answer questions without putting much thought into it (or how it might conflict with existing detail), because she doesn't really give a shit.

And to be fair, if I had as much money as she does, I probably wouldn't give a shit either.

I like how house points are huge deal in the first three books but after the fourth they're pretty much forgotten

In 5 Umbridge just deducts points out of spite and they're hardly mentioned in 6, and of course 7 has Hogwarts being more concerned with you know, not getting blasted apart by Death Eaters

To be fair, that's just how Harry's experience goes. His first couple years are all like "whoamg it's magic school is fun go gryffindor!", with subsequent years being more like "dude stop trying to kill me and everyone I care about you douche."

I mean any professor is capable of awarding points to a house so I dont really think Dumbledore is any more biased or able to award points than other teachers. I do think that the points awarded were fair considering how harry almost died and it took a lot of bravery for three 11 year olds to do what they did
