The question's pretty self-explanatory. In games that involve acts of violence, does blood make it more enjoyable for you?

Personally, I don't like realistic depictions of violence. It can make me feel guilty for what I'm doing or just plain squeamish, so I avoid bloody games. I'm not saying that playing a game with blood will turn you into a murderer (that's silly); I just don't enjoy it.

How does the depiction of violence in video games affect your enjoyment of them?

Usually it doesn't really matter. But if things get way too brutal, it does makes me feel a bit uncomfortable. I prefer flashiness and coolness over just plain realistic violence.

Pretty much this. When things venture into the area of torture or overly sadistic violence it can become uncomfortable. Things like GTA V's torture scene and Kratos ripping the head from the shoulders of a still-living Helios can make me feel bad.

Yes, but mostly in over the top games with extreme bloody effects. It's sorely lacking in for example the Ninja Gaiden Sigma(PS3) versions.

It should be in all realistic looking 16+ games, as it doesn't look right if someone is hit with the pointy end of a sword and doesn't trickle the red stuff.

You have that (sort of) backwards. Genesis owners had to use a code; SNES users flat-out had no blood outside of some very minor ones on the (heavily censored) fatalities (which, incidentally, weren't even called "Fatalities" on the SNES - they were referred to as "Finishing Bonus").

Other than games where's comically over the top (No More Heroes, God of War, etc), I've never cared that much one way or the other. Granted, in some games, it can add to the immersion.

a violent game can be fun, and it can be fun to some degree because of the violence (doom), but it's just one of many different kinds of fun.

agreed, and I think that's because "blood and guts" is not actually the problem with violence. the problem with violence is suffering, not the way it happens to look.

I'm fine with splatters upon being hit, but I don't like it when the blood sticks to the person hit and the surrounding area with them being a bloody corpse left on the ground when they die.

Could at least have the decency to turn into a pile of ash or burst into sparks of light when they die, instead of leaving behind such an unsightly mess.

Yes. It's not the biggest issue in a game, but if something would cause blood in reality I'd want to see it that way in a game too.
