Man, I've had issues with how MatPat's dealt with content, produced content, taken ideas and content to repackage them as his own, and generally just how the channel evolved past its third year or so, but this really is a nice, touching tribute. The ENDING of Secret of Mana on the PS4! With the way the dungeon is, I managed to pull out a full on review before the final bosses. A lot of the criticisms are nothing new, but I feel the game should be applauded for doing SOME quality of life things and new story bits right. That is the first bit of the video. If you're only interested in that, it stops around the 20-25 minute mark or so. The next 20 minutes are the final bosses, and I stopped my commentary so the ending could be played as is.

I also snuck in the name of my next playthrough right before the end credits, so it's an incentive (if people even watch that far). The raw footage was 1:20:00, so I did what I could to manage an hour video...still a journey.

Anyway, next new game is Friday, a day I usually don't upload on (got lucky with my schedule).

I know I posted this on the comment section itself, but video games as a whole don't always have accessibility in mind. I want to work as an occupational therapist (and even specialize in vision accommodation), so seeing video games in this light is very important to me. I empathize with the struggle your friend deals with. It's not something readily noticeable but the effects ARE truly there once people understand the diagnosis.

Thank you for doing an episode like this. "Universal design" means making something that everyone can access. Someday, video games might get to that point.

Another shortie. Mostly a leveling up dungeon. I actually enjoy how I am able to edit most of these PS videos down to bite sized videos. .hack can be kind of a drag sometimes, with 25-30 minute affairs that can be cutscene heavy. This is the polar opposite, and in a good way.

Despite my obvious bias towards FF, I went with Castlevania. I mean, CT, SMRPG, and PW (Visual novel but still RPG length), something like Castlevania feels like a nice break

I really hate cancelling Quests, but I'm just not really into Advent Rising, and the numbers show the same. I didn't really think it would be good, but the four playing assured me they would make it work. But now they're also messaging me privately saying it sucks lol.

I've also unfortunately noticed that the majority of the Quests we cancel have 1 or 2 of the same people in them... So now I'm torn as both a friend and content creator who seeks to continuously improve and make better stuff. I've already spoken to each person asking why they're so low energy and what not, but always get weak excuses back at me.

I don't know what to do, I fear the friendship would suffer if I ask them not to be on the show anymore, but at the same time a couple of them feel like they're only there from obligation or FOMO, and are bringing the quality down.

That, and I need to be more strict on game choice. I let this one go because it was a Side Quest, and they wanted to branch out. But man does the game kinda suck. Castlevania, Kirby and DK would all be a nice change of pace and could potentially wrap a series in 10 or so episodes. The overabundance of long form games is starting to fatigue me. I think Sub-12 hour games is where we should aim. And have maybe 1 or 2 that go longer.

The RPG quest is fine since there is two games happening, and it never feels stale or old because of that. I'm actually quite proud of that idea honestly, and I'm thinking I will continue it. That's why I included Final Fantasy as one of the options, I think we may replace the games with Earthbound and one of the FF games pre-VII.

The week off really cleared my mind and allowed me to think of how to move forward. It just sucks because unfortunately it may make me come off as a jerk to my crew with me putting my footdown on certain things, and if they're not having fun then it ruins the vibe of the show. That being said, I do 99% of the work anyway. All the art, editing, releases, you name it. The only thing the others do is play/commentate, the rest is all me. So I most certainly have the right, but again it comes down to ruining the easy/fun vibe which is so important to the content of the videos.

TL:DR My mind is swirling and battling against friendship/content quality, and hard improvements.

I'd say drop something you don't find interesting. The thing that helps me (as new as I am) is constant reflection. Why did I start? Am I enjoying this?

As soon as the doubt creeps in, it will stick. Also, take it from me, having a short game helps. The videos are quicker, the game is to the point instead of dragging the story out, and it comes acrossin those videos.

I think if you pick something you like, and at least 1 of the other commenters are on board and excited, the situation should be fine.

I bought a Blue Yeti, because it was compatible with my PS4. It turns out my headset can also hook into it for game audio. That means it can be a one-stop hub for audio levels while on Twitch. My biggest concern now is obtaining a stand and shock mount for the damn thing (BIG FUCKER that Yeti). I think it was bugging me how headset mics, even the expensive ones, just sound like crap. I suppose they are meant for versatility and convenience, but not performance. I just want the Twitch videos to be on par with Youtube to an extent.

Still, I'm spending quite a bit to make both my Youtube videos and Twitch streams decent quality. I hope after five months, that cycle of endlessly buying equipment can slow down a little.

Here's a super important episode in Phantasy Star IV. I put a spoiler tag on the video, because let's just say they took a sharp turn into emotional territory. This game came out at a time where stuff like FFVI also showed a willingness to take risks with its story.
