this is a 100% valid sentiment that everyone can agree on, regardless of ideology

the issue is that there seems to be a bit of debate regarding what constitutes a "lazy asshole" and just who is "deserving" of others' hard earned money

is it the single mother working 3 jobs and having to take out payday loans just to pay rent and having to choose whether her kids get food or electricity every month

or is it the trust fund billionaire making money by sitting on his ass all day who has the difficult choice of picking between a 2nd private jet or a 4th yacht for this month

of course, that's not to say anyone deserves your money, regardless of income or background

but if you had to choose, which seems more reasonable?

and besides, one of them is already getting your money anyway, and it's definitely not the one who needs it more just to live

No system will be perfect. I fully accept that some people will exploit or take advantage of a social safety net knowing that it still does help people in genuine need who do end up turning their lives around. I think it's an acceptable cost.

When people are like, "people might mooch, so no one should get benefits" it seems selfish.

Well there shouldn't be.

Plus, our welfare program is so fucked up that the single mother probably either wouldn't qualify, or would never be able to get off of it.
