"No, we can stay a little longer," you say. "Give ourselves time to rest after eating before changing and riding back."

Raven nods and everyone continues eating. After you finish, you all soak up some more sun while your stomachs relax. While you relax, you admire Raven's body reclined back on the sandy shore, from those lovely legs to the cute peekaboo of her belly button to her bosoms barely contained behind that now blue spandex.

"Is this homemade lemonade?" Raven asks as she continues drinking.

"I believe so," you say as you snap to attention.

"It's really good," she says.

"Rory," Ruby says, "what do you say we take the path through the woods on the way back?"

"Sure," you say. "It'll give us plenty of shade as we go."

"If we're going for another swim but in the pool," Roselind says.

"We don't really need to change all the way back," Rebecca says. "That'll save us time, too."

Everyone finishes eating, then the girls put their clothing on over their swimsuits. However, you have to change completely out of your trunks, so you put up a wall to block them from looking at you. Though you can hear them giggling a bit.

You finish dressing, and everyone goes to the horses. You untie them from the post, then climb onto the saddles. Roselind and Rebecca lead the way while you stay with Raven

You let the others get ahead of you two as you move out. You backtrack to the stream, and then take a different path from the steep and rocky cliff to have a longer but smoother slope to trot down, and it leads you right into the woods.

"Y'know, if you were a more experienced rider," you say, "we could sneak off and take an even more scenic route back."

"Hey, I'm doing okay," Raven says defensively. "What did you have in mind?"

"Well, with how the lake is at a different elevation, there is also a waterfall nearby, with its own pool of water."

"Really? Wow, the pool at the manor, the lake and now this waterfall. There's a lot of places to swim."

"Well, the waterfall is small, and its pool is the same. It'd be good for just the two of us."

"Then why don't we just do that now?" she asks.

"Because we're expected back," you say.

"Yeah, we've gotta get back to the manor so Renee and Roxanne can be snotty and annoying to me and the other girls."

"Well, to be fair, they'd be that way regardless."

You two share a good laugh.

"If you still want to later," you say. "We could always sneak back here after dinner."

"Really?"

"I don't see why not. But, we won't be able to bring horses."

"Why not?"

"Well, they've already done so much today," you say as you pat Cherry Bomb on the neck. "Plus we can get out of the manor faster if we just go."

"Okay, but are we taking Shadowfax then?"

"No, he's too loud, everyone would hear us," you say.

"Then how're we getting back?"

"I was hoping you would fly us..." you say a bit sheepishly.

"I have to fly us?" she says a bit incredulously.

"Well I can't fly," you defend.

"So I have to do the manual labor for our romantic bit of sneaking off?"

"Well... Yes... But it'll be worth it, I swear."

"Okay, okay," Raven says. "As long as we get to be alone."

"That might be the trickier part," you say. "We might end up doing another party game."

"Really? After playing one last night?"

"Of course," you say. "It's just how big gatherings like these go. But don't worry, I have an idea. We can ask to play Hide and Seek. And so that no one is looking for us, you and I shall volunteer as the seekers."

"Oh, that's a good idea," Raven says with a smile. "That way, we can sneak off as soon as everyone's hidden."

"Exactly. While everyone is waiting for us to find them, we'll actually be at the waterfall."

"Can we bring something for a night picnic?" she asks with a sweeter smile.

"What were you thinking of?"

"Perhaps just some more of that cake. There is more cake, right?"

"I don't know, you and some others had seconds," you say. "But if there is more, then yes, we can definitely get Carter to pack us some."

"Yes," she says with an excited fist pump.

The group makes it out of the woods and are on the homestretch. You can hear echoes of activity at the pool as you pull up to the stable. You dismount, and both Carter and Penelope are there to help put the horses away.

"Well, I've got to undress again," you say. "I'll be in the house, you ladies can go on ahead."

Your sisters hurry off, while the Robertas and Rumiko follow at a walk.

"Ah'm going to help with the horses a moment more," Ruby says.

"I can wait while you change," Raven shrugs with a slight blush.

"Well alright," you say.

You and Raven walk back, past the pool and into the manor. You go upstairs and to your room.

"You wait out here," you say as you open your door. "I don't need you sneaking peeks again."

Raven giggles while you enter your room. You close your door behind you, and start changing back.

"So," she says through the door, "what do you have planned for us at the waterfall?"

"Well, obviously we'd take a dip in the water," you say. "And if we have any desserts, we could have our little nighttime picnic."

"And anything else...?"

"Um... Is there something you're particularly hoping for?"

"Maybe," she says with a playful tone. "If something happens, I wouldn't complain."

You finish changing then go to the door. You open it, and see Raven has undressed back to her swimsuit.

"Did you do that out here in the hall?" you ask.

"I put up an Illusion, like we did in Hawaii," she says. "Not that anyone passed by, but if they had, they would've just seen empty hallway."

"Crafty," you say.

"Can I leave my clothes with you?" she asks.

"I don't see why not," you say.

She puts her clothes folded on your bed next to your sloppily thrown ones.

"Shall we?" you ask as you offer your arm.

"Certainly," she smiles as she takes it.

The two of you walk arm in arm back downstairs, and out of the manor on the pool side of the estate.

"There you are," Renee pouts as she walks over in her high heels, Roxanne just behind her.

Roxanne and Renee are both in stark white with gold trim. Roxanne wears a spaghetti strap one-piece, while Renee has a string bikini.

"I should've grabbed my sunglasses," Raven says as she shields her eyes. "I'm getting glare off of them."

"Oh ha ha," Renee sneers. "But Rory, you will be very excited to hear that my cousin Rona will be here in time for the party."

"Oh, wonderful," you say. "I'm glad she allowed herself to take a holiday. She always works so hard."

"I know," Renee says with a smile and wave of the hand. "She's so silly, feeling she has to do all that for our fathers when they could easily let someone else do it."

"Maybe she likes to being a pampered poodle," Raven shrugs.

You give Raven a look of "Oh, you," while Renee sneers again.

"What do you say we take a dip in the pool, hm?" you say.

"Gladly!" Renee says.

She comes alongside you and tries to take your other arm, but Raven uses her free hand to flail and keep her away.

"Nope, nope," Raven says as she does. "You don't get to hold his hand. That's only for me."

You chuckle as Raven tugs you along towards the pool. You wave to your sisters as they wave from the water. Then you and Raven

You crouch down and slip into the water with Raven, and stay by the side as you cool off. You stretch your arms out, and Raven tucks herself in close by your shoulder.

"We're gonna be doing a lot of swimming today, aren't we?" she says.

"No, no, we're taking a dip. Staying cool because it's summer."

"If you do buy yourself your own place," she says, "I think you should get a pool for that reason then. We can use it on hot days like this to just cool off."

"That does sound like a great idea," you say. "I wonder how many homes in Jump City have one readily available."

Renee and Roxanne take off their high heel sandals to walk into the pool from the steps. They swim out past you, giving Raven another sneering glance before heading for the far side of the pool.

"Y'know, the one upside to their stuck-up attitudes," Raven says, "is getting to annoy them."

"You're so much more mischievous than I ever would've guessed," you chuckle.

She giggles and reclines back against you. You give her a soft kiss on the top of her head and giggles a bit more.

You two relax and watch the others swim around. Your sisters splash around with the Robertas, Rumiko, Ruby Ramona, Rhea, Regan and Rhiannon. Renee and Roxanne just float around with Regina and Rayna while Rolanda and Riva sit together off to the side. Rolanda made sure to bring a pool friendly toy, as well, in the form of a basketball sized rubber duck.

"Young Master Rory," Penelope asks as she comes up behind you.

"Yes, Penelope?" you reply.

"The other families were wondering if you would help prepare dinner again," she says. "They liked your salmon flamme confit and stuffed quail so much, they were hoping you'd have sometime more to serve."

"Well, I have some ideas," you say, "but I'm sure you and your brother can prepare them quite nicely on your own."

"Oh, a-are you sure?"

"Of course," you say. "You two have been doing this longer than I have. I suggest that since we went with fish and poultry last night, we should make the main dish beef this time. Perhaps Boeuf Bourguignon.

"As in braised beef bourgogne?"

"Yes," you say. "You will of course need plenty of beef, as well as onions, mushrooms, butter, honey, carrots, cauliflowers, bouquet garni, salt, pepper and garlic.

"First, tenderize the beef by kneading it with honey. Then cook both sides of the beef on a pan while you chop onions and carrots and fry them in a pan. Chop and saute the mushrooms in butter, then add the beef and vegetables to the pot to simmer at low flame. Heat till it's thoroughly cooked and tender before placing it all on a plate and serving with sauce."

"Understood," Penelope says. "But, what of the appetizer? Do you have another seafood dish you could share?"

"How about instead of fish or seafood," you say, "we go with a special take on risotto."

"Risotto?" Raven asks.

"A Northern Italian rice dish cooked in a broth to a creamy consistency," you explain. "But this one will be a special take on risotto. The risotto itself will have apples, a teaspoon of lemon juice, sauteed onion, two tablespoons of butter, half a cup of rice, two tablespoons of White Wine, a cup of apple juice and water each, a teaspoon of granulated consomm, salt and Pepper, and thick slices of bacon."

"More bacon? After last night?" Penelope asks.

"Why not?" you shrug.

"Alright," she shrugs. "And how is this special apple and bacon risotto made?"

"Obviously you cook the bacon nice and crisp while you peel and dice the apple into cubic centimeter pieces and mince the onions. You sautee the onions with the butter, then add the rice and cook until the butter is transparently coating them all. Add the white wine, and keep going until the alcohol burns off a bit.

"Mix the apple juice with the water and the consomm. Then add that mixture an eighth cup at a time to the full mix, simmering on low heat, for about 15 minutes or until you use it all up. Then you add your diced apples and lemon juice, season it as needed w/ salt and pepper. Aim for a balanced flavor. Then you plate that before putting no less than two slices of bacon on top. Oh, and make sure there's also powdered cheese and black pepper for toppings, should anyone want it."

"Yes, sir," Penelope says.

"What about dessert?" Raven asks, very obvious about what she's alluding to.

"Well, since you asked about it," you say with a smirk at her.

"I think Lemon Curd Italiano Semifreddo goes with what we'll be having. It'll be a multi-layered ice cream cake. The topping will be scattered pralines, the second is the ice cream of lemon meringue and heavy cream. The third will be genoise--"

"Genoise?" Raven asks.

"A type of sponge cake, but with extra butter in the batter."

"Oh," she says with a chuckle.

"And of course, the fourth layer will be a lemon curd," you tell Penelope. "Drizzle on some limoncello syrup, light on the Grappa. Then garnish with dried lemon slices, mostly for looks than for eating."

"Understood," Penelope says. "Wish us luck."

"You don't need luck when you have skill," you say. "And you two have plenty of that."

Penelope hurries off and you return to relaxing with Raven.

"How does that sound to you?" you ask Raven.

"I guess lemon is a good alternate to chocolate," she shrugs.

"Well that's a way to look at it," you chuckle. "Though, we should probably bring something to drink, shouldn't we?"

"I'd think so," she says.

"Then we'll bring a couple bottles of milk with us before we go," you say.

"Milk? That's not the most romantic drink."

"No but you'll appreciate it when you have that sweet lemon curd."

Raven shrugs, accepting your suggestion.

"Raven, come play!" Roselind says.

"The girls are going to try some volley ball in the pool," Rebecca says.

"Really?" Raven says. "Who against who?"

"Well, Ramona doesn't want to, so we need you to join us, Rumiko and Roberta Rhodes against Regan, Ruby, Rhiannon, Rhea and Roberta Rivers."

"And I guess none of the others want in?" she asks.

"No, we asked you first," Rebecca says.

"And we don't want Renee and Roxanne in the game anyway," Roselind says.

"Oh. I don't think I'll be all that good."

"It's not about being good, we're just going to be playing for fun," Roselind says.

"Though, we will try to win," Rebecca says.

"Go on," you say, "you should try it."

"Alright," Raven says. "But where's the net?"

"Easy," Rebecca says.

"We just make one," Roselind says.

They use their mana and make a barrier to act as the net.

"Rory, move over and join the boys on the side," Roselind says.

"We need all the room we can get for the game," Rebecca says.

"Okay, okay," you say.

You pull yourself out of the pool and walk over to where Raydon, Rondel, Ralph, Randson, Ratmir, Reece, Rinaldo and Ryan sit.

"Afternoon, gentlemen," you say as you join them.

"Afternoon," Reece says. "I'm sure your time at the lake was enjoyable."

"Well, the weather was nice and we had a good swim," you say.

"Does that mean you weren't able to ditch your sisters?" Ryan asks.

"Why would I only ditch my sisters?"

"Don't suggest that," Ralph says. "You forget my sister went to the lake with him."

"And mine," Randson says.

"Honestly, Raven's ze most attractive of all of zem," Raydon says.

"That's bold of you to say," Rinaldo says. "Though, I'm not disagreeing with you."

"You think Raven's the best looking, do you?" you say. "Why is that?"

"Vell I think you'd know better than ve do," Ratmir says.

"Oh I know a lot better than you all do," you say. "But go ahead and tell me why you think she's the best."

They all look at each other then back at you.

"And you von't get mad?" Ratmir asks.

"Not at all," you say. "After all, she's my girlfriend, not any of yours.

"Well," Reece says. "In that case, I suppose there are two obvious reasons as to why."

You all look over as Raven jumps at the ball and smacks it. The water splashes around while Raven... bounces. They all chuckle, but a bit nervously.

"Yes, those two are pretty obvious," you say. "But I assure you, I didn't fall in love with her because of those."

"Then what?" Ralph asks. "What got you to first like her?"

"Her intellect," you say. "She knows so much, and has such a thirst for learning. She wanted to hear all about my family's history and the great stories of the Roreks. Plus she's a fast learner. You saw how she combined different magics against Renee. I never thought to teach her that, but she figured it all out."

The others all sort of shrug or scrunch their faces.

"Oh come on," you say. "You lot are so shallow to not care about intelligence. Don't you want the woman you love to be more than just a pretty face with nothing behind it?"

"Well..." they say.

"We don't want a woman who is a complete dullard," Reece says. "But it's not that high on our priorities."

You chuckle and shake your head while going back to watching the pool volleyball game. You don't know the score, but it seems Ruby's team is doing better. Raven may have been right about not being much help in the game, she moves a bit sluggish. They should've thought to make her the libero and stick to defense. Though, you can't be sure if any of the girls thought of that.

"I will admit," Reece says. "She was brilliant in her duel. That probably makes her the smartest of the ladies, too."

"Yes, I suppose it does."

"Y'know, if they're playing a game," Randson says, "why not we play something?"

"Something for nine people?" you ask.

"Well that's if all of us participate," Randson says. "Are you going to join in?"

"I suppose that depends on what we play," you say.

"Well we won't really know what we can play until we know who is playing," Randson counters.

"Fine, I'll play. So what's the game?"

"Well hold on," Reece says. "Is it teams of three or every man for himself?"

You all look around at each other.

"Every man for himself," you all say.

"Which can be certain card games," Reece says. "Or maybe a word game or something like that."

"Well we don't have cards to play," Ralph says.

"Then it'll be a word game?" Randson says.

"That might be tricky vith the language barrier, no?" Ratmir asks.

"Isn't there something we used to play as lads?" you ask. "With figurines or tokens?"

"Yes, I remember now," Reece says. "Battle Royale."

"Yes...!" everyone else says with recognition.

"We should just do zat, zen," Raydon says.

"Nine player Battle Royale, that'll be pretty good," Ralph says.

"So who will make the board?" Rinaldo asks.

"Rondel's pretty good at that," Ratmir says.

The stoic Rondel uses his dark blue mana to create the floating board.

"Well, with nine players, there's going to be some overlap in character choices," Ralph says. "Even if all character classes are chosen, only eight classes means two players would be the same."

"I think that's fine," you say. "So long as I'm..."

"A Mage."

"That's fine," Ralph says. "What is everyone else going to be?"

"Warlock," Raydon says.

"Monk," Rondel says.

"Druid, of course," Randson says.

"I'll be a Varlock, too," Ratmir says.

"I'll be a Knight," Reece says.

"Hunter," Rinaldo says.

"I'll be a Ninja," Ryan says.

"Then I'll be a Monk, too," Ralph says. "Not really for playing Priest just for the sake of covering all the bases."

"Alright then," Reece says. "Let's place our pieces on the board and determine who goes first."

You all use your mana and some Alchemy to make figurines for the board. You make sure your Mage has a flowing robe, but with the hood down to show off his hair, which is your hair, long and flowing, too.

The two Monks are designed similarly, with big chains and bare sleeves to imply they can fight in martial arts. The two Warlocks are a bit different, with Raydon's having a high collar while Ratmir's has a horned crown. Randson is traditional Druid with a simple robe that incorporates leaves and normal rope. Reece's Knight is fairly standard, too, with the plate armor, sword and shield. Rinaldo's Hunter has a cloak with bow and quiver of arrows, while Ryan's Ninja is covered head to toe with only the eyes showing.

"Well, we don't have dice," you say. "So I think Rock Paper Scissors will have to do."

"Wait why couldn't we have played that as the game instead?" Ryan asks.

"Because that's too simple," Reece says. "But Rory's got a good idea, we'll use that."

"Once, twice, shoot!"

You put up Rock, and beat out Rondel, Ralph, Randson, Reece and Ryan, who played Scissors. Raydon, Ratmir and Rinaldo also played Rock so you four go again. This time, you win by going with Scissors to counter their Paper.

"Alright, I'm first," you say. "I will move my piece."

All the classes have their own stats that are different from the others. Mages have a Speed of four, so you're allowed to move to any square that's within four spaces. You decide to use all four in a straight line near the center of the board.

"And of course, I take a defensive stance," you say as you have your figure change poses, guarding with arms crossed in front of him. "We pass reverse clockwise, if I recall, making it Raydon's turn."

"I will also move," Raydon says.

Warlocks have 5 Speed so he can move one more space than you can. And with that new range, he gets within two squares of your Mage.

"Rondel goes next," Raydon says.

"I will move," he says.

Monks are much faster than either Mages or Warlocks, so he uses his 7 Speed to go between Ratmir and Reece on the far side.

"I'll just take my defensive stance now," Randson says.

Being a Druid, it makes sense he takes a passive approach.

"I'm move," Ralph says.

Being a Monk, he also gets to move a long distance. He gets right next to Reece at the corner.

"Well, with Rondel right here," Ratmir says, "I suppose I should attack, no? As a Varlock, I will use my Dark Magic."

Warlocks are obviously strong with Dark Magic, but Monks have strong resistance to magics in general.

"We're going to need those tokens then," Ralph says.

Everyone takes a deep breath, then exhales, and the carbon and warm air is made into ten tokens via Alchemy.

"Alright, Warlock Magic Power is 8," Ralph says. "Monk Resistance is 6, so that's two tokens over to Ratmir."

Rondel hands those over and now it's Reece's turn.

"I'll simply defend against whatever Ralph is up to," he says as his Knight puts up the shield.

"I think I will attack from here," Rinaldo says.

Hunters can use Range very effectively with 9, so he could hit just about anyone he wanted. The downside is that the farther out he goes, the less likely he'll hit, which is determined more by actual physics than anything since this is a magical board game.

"I will attack... Raydon, at roughly five squares away."

Rinaldo's Hunter takes aim, and releases a tiny arrow at Raydon's Warlock. The arrow hits, and with Raydon's Defense against Rinaldo's Strength, Raydon gives over two tokens, too.

"Your turn, Ryan," Rinaldo says.

"Well, being a Ninja," he says, "I'll obviously activate my special ability of Stealth before moving."

Ninjas being the fastest, they can cover the entire board with their 10 Speed. But with Ryan's Ninja now invisible, you can't tell where it goes. However, the Stealth will only last this next round and then everyone will be able to see him again.

"Back to me then," you say.
